Edited by: Nathvas on 08/07/2008 09:09:04 who's the wealthiest? I dunno. lol Somebody I'm sure is running around with a few hundred bill. Currently I say I'm worth a little over 1 bill in assets and over 700mill in cash. I had 1.1 bill but then I started buying the skills that costed 340mill and still have a 430 mill one to buy. Again I'm not worried about that. For a entire year, I did a little of this, little of that and made chunk change. Then I slowly started to specilize and income started to come. Best way to make money I found in eve is to specilize in something. Every one can mine, but most industrial corps need large amounts. Me and this one guy tried to get contracts from them but they wanted like 30-35 mill trit, something we couldn't do at the time because we only had crusiers. Something your common minners can't produce.
As for me. I'm not rich. probably have a little more isk then most people, but by no means rich. I'm happy with what I got. I have 700mill to liquidate and my own personal carrier in the oven. What more could I want or need?

How do you put a price on something that's one of a kind in it's existance?
Interesting proposal. There are 2 Opux Luxury Yachts currently in existence on TQ. How much is each of those worth?
Naff all to a PvPer or anyone with any real sense. The ship has no use other than being a fancy hangar ornament.
I could probably afford to bid on one extensively if one went up for sale but there's no point, it's a completely useless hull.

I have more isk than i know what to do with, but i almost certainly don't even have 0.1% of the richest players.
They are literally the bill gates of eve, even a tiny fraction of their wealth is a holy shit ton of isk.

Indeed. I stopped playing over a year ago and just started over again. But I still remember very freshly several nice scandals about CCP favoring several big alliances. News that even managed to get into several news magazines lol.
So the last couple years have been sertainly interesting and several very unethical things with CCP themselves involved have happened for sure!

eh? what was so stupid about giving a only a certain few people in a pvp game the ability to make tech II pvp modules like guns, tanking modules, speed modules, etc?
Oh wait it was preposterously shortsighted and one of the devs biggest regrets :/

Truthful answer...
It's hard to say, there can be the richest guy with the largest shares, the most assets, the most power of sov... The guy with the most isk in his wallet isn't the richest man... It's the guy who can provide and wisely distribute his economics.

At the beginning there's no secret, it's grinding. That grinding can take severals forms, from lv4 missions to multi-alts-mining.
Once you have a working capital, keep yourself informed about the short term changes, and you'll be able to do some speculation. Some of the things I speculated upon were low-level decryptors, as soon as their boost was announced, and core X-type EM armor hardeners, when the EM resist nerf on armor became common knowledge. I did something like +200% markup on the first one and +40% on the second. Those who had the capital to buy large quantities of components for T2 production just before trinity made lots of profit, too. The latest speculation that I know of has been on the KYU something nexus chips, used for the Amarr Navy Omens. They were bought massively at <1M/unit, and resold at 20+M/unit.
Of course, speculation is a two-edged blade, and sometimes it doesn't happen as you predicted. I still have 1200 assault launchers II gathering dust somewhere, bought when I read CCP pondered about the possibility of using them, instead of brand new modules, to fire their new close-range cruiser-sized missiles... ------------------------------------------

Well it was eventually corrected isn't. As it was stupid as it was only the 2-3 largest Alliances that were completely dominating the game. Leaving no room for new alliances or existing alliances left out to even try compete with these monopolising Alliances.
It was downright stupid, as it killed the whole balance of Alliance warfare in 0.0 !
Even so that this was one of those issues or scandals what you can call it, that it made news in several big magazines.
But lets not bring this back up again, as it has been all over the internet for too long already. It's a closed case now.

This character is still too young to know the exact details, but i sometimes think about what exactly changed eve. An event as this is likely to have changed more than a simple economic ingame balance. It possibly destroyed trust and decency.

Oh but I never gave any toss about it tho. Just mentioned it that it was quite an issue back then.
The only thing that affected people like me was that it was extremely hard to get your hands on T2 stuff back then and if you found it, it was highly overpriced.
The larger Alliances left out of it and residing in 0.0 space were the ones that suffered from it the most.
