I found a few .2s that are completely empty. They are surrounded by a bunch of .4s and are practically 2-3 jumps away from a .5
For a fairly new corp, does anyone feel these .2s are worth having some type of presence in? These belts have MASSIVE dense Veld roids (30+km) and a huge selection of other roids. There are practically over 100 rocks in each belt. Being so close to safe space, I'm thinking it's a wonderful place to be able to store massive amounts of ore for building stuff for the peeps in high sec.
Besides the belts, I've also thought about the exploration opportunities.

They are worth it if you can get enough people to take advantage of the mineral abundance, otherwise you're better off in empire space. Oh and don't advertise the location if you are planning to base yourself in lowsec or some nasty piwate may try to come gank your ships.

They're empty now but if you regularly set up mining ops there, you'll attract attention sooner or later, and once you have the attention, you won't lose it until you move out or comprehensively defeat it.
The very ease of access to these systems means that they'll be hard to defend

Thx. And that's exactly why I didn't mention any names :)
Eventually, I'll look into getting a decent amount of peeps out there, but I certainly won't be out there alone.

I have several big friends with nice stuff that I am also looking forward to helping out if need be. I'll also be part of an alliance with several corps.
Yeah the attention is what I'm afraid of. So basically, it is worth it so as long as we can keep a presence there.

No good at all. I've been reading these forums and so I know that every gate in every lowsec system is camped by 50 pirates in motherships. May as well just quit now. -

From a financial pov it's useless (high sec mission running > all :<).
But high sec is just plain boring, just be sure to keep an eye on local at all times and don't fly what you can't loose.

You should be fine there. Bring a pos and set it up for your home base.

doesn't matter. if you move there, you're going to show up on the map, and persistent blobs in lowsec attract pirates.

Edited by: Lord WarATron on 08/07/2008 08:22:54 Most pirates dont go warping from system to system to see who is in local. They use the map that shows jumps in last hour or average number of people in system in last 30 mins. This way they can see where they can focus their efforts quickly.
So once you hang about there, pirates will see consintency and come to you. So prepart your plan for your first pirate visit. --

Oh please, pirates in motherships is so 2007. He won't even get to the low sec system because every high sec gate is camped by 50+ remote boosted suicide gank BS.

Hehe...well...I've already made it there several times. Scooping the area out, there were a couple of gate campers a few systems away, but it was minimal.
Judging by everyone's suggestions, it seems I really shouldn't be out there unless I have a full op with fighters, miners, haulers, and possibly scouts. Besides, I wouldn't go out there light anyways.

Edited by: Tharukan Desm''ar on 08/07/2008 12:38:20 Go explore there to for mining ops. The gravimetric sites in low sec are the best for mining in empire. You'll get plenty of high and mid end ores. Plus the exploration site not being on the map gives you more security so they'll have to probe for you if they really want to get you.

Low sec grav sites can be pretty nice. But don't let it give you a false sense of security. Keep your scanner open and watch for probes. All it takes is being distracted for a few minutes and you can find a gang of pirates right on top of you
