...are their plans or talk about 'skill queing' or something similar?
The other day I had to wait around to train two skills, 20 mins for one, 40 mins, 1 hour, then 2 hours, and i switched to a longer skill so i could go away and do things for longer times. I was thinking it would have been cool if I could have just had them sta trainng back to back without me being here.
So whats up?

This is probably the longest standing unanswered request that the entire playerbase agrees on.

Alas it keeps its clone up to date so it always comes back.

yah i figured it prolly was. It seem's like such a logical and positive implimentation. It doesn't affect anyone in a negetive fashion. I wonder what's the hold up.

Fail.
People would set long skill chains and sell characters a month down the line.

Just a backup skill of say a max of 2 days long training would be nice.
Everyone who cant read there's a day long patch / server maintaince, people who forget which day it is a skill finishes, only to come on a day late to find it was the day before etc would benefit from it.
I know my social life comes before Eve and there has been a couple of occassions I havent been able to log in and sort my skills out before I've gone out / away. Most people will read this thinking it's part of my post, when its actually my sig :P

^^ This is why I want it. I will not get up in the middle of the night nor will I miss work or any other engagement just to set a new skill.
That said I have learned to except that my chars will not be training 24/7/365. More like when I wake up from my drunken night will I remember that my skill finished training 4 days ago.

There was a thread awhile back which more or less established there are few if any rational arguments against skill queues. So the answer, if any, is CCP doesn't want to do it.

This was a topic taken to CCP directly when the Council of Stellar Management went to Iceland for their semi-annual face-to-face meeting. It sounds like some kind of basic queue was approved:
Originally by: Jade Constantine (CSM Chairman) From my notes of the discussion it was pretty much a yes in the following form:
Something like ... you nominate a Primary and a Secondary Skill. The primary is the normal training skill and when it runs out it automatically flips to the secondary. This means you get to put the short time-skills anytime you like in the knowledge that they'll flip to a longer secondary skill when they finish. This was seen to address the main problem of short skills finishing at odd times without giving into a formal 5-10 whatever stage skill queue that would just let people never need to login.
I think we voted the fix a high priority so hopefully should see action on it soon.

You are lucky that sounds like a fun day. There's nothing better in EVE than hearing that chick say "skill training completed"!!

Well.
Hearing that chick say "skill training completed" for carrier 5/dread 5 (or for the noobs out there, battleship 5) finishes.

Never going to happen. CCP ditched the 30day GTC to stop people setting long skills and letting their sub lapse. OK you can still do it, but now only half the time.

???
CCP can quite easaly stop any inactive accounts training skills at downtime if that was 100% the intention. In fact, people who train on inactive accounts are planning to resubscribe anyway. --

Even a secondary long skill that starts training after the first has finished would be a help. Set one skill that may last a few hours but the secondary kicks in if the player doesn't log in to change it.
Things such as extended DT, unexpected events in RL and even problems getting onto the internet would mean that you are not losing any skill training time.
Call it a backup skill if you like but something needs to be done. It's not easy trying to train for something specific if it means you have to get up at 3am to change skills when you have to get up for work at 5:30. Either you lose 2.5 hours training time or you set a longer one which may not be what you specifically want.
When it comes down to it, all those lost hours here and there add up. In a game like Eve, you can't afford to fall too far behind.

I'd like to be the first to demand that I get given back to me all the skill training time I missed out on due to playing before the skill queue existed.
Ahh, I remember when they gave noobs 1M starting skill points, the whines, the whines... -
