What's the best way to take down a PvE (0.0 ratting setup) Raven?
I assume they will be shield tanked and I know these things have quite a reputation for shield tanking. The rats in this area use EM/Therm. so these guys may be setup for this damage type tanking ability.

Edited by: Fallen Tears on 13/07/2008 12:00:38 There will be a big kinetic hole if he's fitted to rat so kinetic ammo is your best bet. Also a neut to kill the shieldboosting. Other than that make sure you can either tank the damage or outrun the missiles. A nano-curse would be a good choise for this.

Fallen Tears has the right idea. A curse with a speed fit, caldari ecm and a point can break a raven down. It won't be a fast kill but you'll get there.

It requires all of 2 brain cells to work this out.
Use anything but the damage the rats are dealing and tank the damage that the raven will be doing ie the rats lowest resistance.

if hes using cruise missiles = tank
if hes using torps = no tank
mainly, what a raven pve pilot fits, is something that will keep him just above 30% shields, rest dps, dont sweat it, pve raven is easy to kill.

Neut Domi sounds like a good idea, but a high SP raven pilot should have little trouble tanking a vaga for 10 minutes. ==================================================
I should really get a sig. |

Depends on your race...Im assuming you fly gellente?
If so mega/hyperion/wasp domi with neuts/nano ishtar/deimos might work/astarte/eos... Must I go on?
Basically get into a ship bigger then a cruiser(or t2 cruiser)use kinetic damage and win the fight extremely easily.

There are many places in this game where battles are fought and won, EFT isn't one of them. |

A good raven pilot won't be too affected by a neut as they likely have a cap booster. If you catch them being lazy and fitting just for the rats then easy kill so long as you can take their damage in return.
My PVE Raven is pretty solid for PVE and PVP...only problem is it can't tackle but it will tank you and dish out good dps. Good luck hunting but try either exp or em against a raven. Likely one of those will be their weakness.

Magic number to break is around 500-700DPS depending on skills but things are easier if you have neuts + buffer tank. Kill his cap and he can't run his booster. I'd swap out two blasters for Neut's to shorten the time it'd take to break his tank.

Most people who are ratting aren't fitting a booster with 200's. May as well expect him to be fielding faction ammo.

He said good pilot. You said most people. There's no conflict here! - Support fixing the UI|Suggest Jita fixes|Compact logs |

its pretty stupid to fit a cap booster on a ratting ship, you will spend more time refilling your charges than actually shooting, and there are plenty of permaboosting setups out there which dont need one.
tbh anything could kill a raven, any hac, bs, bc, some assault frigs (ishkur + wolf), hell iv even seen plated vexors doing the job. Just think smart and you'l be fine.

Curse. Nano it, kill his cap which kills his tank and then let your drones work thru his (fairly small, few ratters fit for buffer, adn instead go for resists and sheild/cap ratios) EHP.

So where do you rat then?
I've done a ton of 0.0 ratting and I can say with no uncertainty that a booster is a better option. You rarely need to permaboost while ratting. In fact, you rarely need to boost it all unless you're doing it wrong. In those situations, your capacitor itself often contains sufficient cap above peak regen to get you by.
But if you're operating on regen and somebody brings cap warfare you're SOL without a booster. - Support fixing the UI|Suggest Jita fixes|Compact logs |

Especially considering the damage a vaga is likely to be slinging is my highest native resists.
I never worry about the lone nano ships killing me in a Raven - it's the inevitable party that comes along to murder me once I get pinned down. Thus even my ratting raven has at least a FEW pvp features (heavy neuts, buffer tank w/ active as a backup, MWD)
