Ive had problems using wireless network cards with vista. Is the issue just eve related? Since when I tried to work out the problem with Vista and wireless issues, theres just too many to write down in this post.

I've been getting this for a week now, usually disconnects after an hour or more. Tonight it's every minute. 4 dc in 8 jumps. It happens regardless of the number of clients running, and usually only affects the client I an focussed on.
Is there a torrent or similar for the eve client? I tried a dl manager and pausing killed it (256k).

Yep, been happening to me too. Used to happen only when I deployed my drones, now happens a lot - just get a "Connection lost" message; normally when it tries to retrieve something like market prices or corp info, but now becoming totally random.Have submitted a bug report but they say they can't reproduce it. Please fix this CCP!

Edited by: Tearless Trel on 05/08/2008 19:41:04 Exact same problem has been occurring for the past 2 days. Play for 5-10 minutes, then connection loss. It would indeed be cute for CCP to post a reply of some sort.. The d/c usually occurs when I press a button (any button) ingame.

Lots of disconnects here. It seriously looks like an idle timer problem, in conjunction with other issues. If I orbit an object I can stay connected for a really long time. If I sit motionless or dock then I only stay connected about 20 minutes or so before getting booted.

Edited by: Taniell on 14/08/2008 13:35:47 it seems to be the old disconnection problem which have some internet providers.
basically they set some type of packets to lowest possible priority (unfortunatelly the ones which uses eve and few other online games) and in the peak times they just don't pass some aortha servers in europe and get lost on the way.
to solve this try to open multiple channels with as many ppl as possible (help/trade/language/etc.) and have them minimalized. for me with 7 opened channels each with 350-600 players in it, the client stopped disconnecting or have like one in whole evenning. the constant chatter in channels prevents from disconnects.

Same problem here. Disconnect every 5min or so. The whole thing seems pretty random ecept that it often happens when i try to interact with the game somehow.

I've been getting this for a few days now and have stopped taking my Capital ship into the field.
It is a bit random though, last night I had little trouble but a couple of days ago, and tonight, it was happening a fair bit.

Try what Taniell suggested a few posts up, joining various chat channels, as it may be working for me. Turn off blink on them though as they started to do my head in. _______________________________________

Edited by: Resna on 15/08/2008 01:13:28 Yep same here getting disconnected every 1 û 5 minutes for the last two or three days.
Tried loads of different fixes but to no avail :(
Happens on both my PC which is hard wired to my router and on my laptop which is wireless.
Trace route is ok (used ping plotter).
IÆve petitioned in detail, hope to get a resolve soon.

Seemed ok at 16:00 - 19:00 EVE time with 0 disconnects in 3 hours, with 24K players online.
But I then log in at 22:00 EVE time and the problem is back 32K players online.
It's been mentioned before that it could be something to do with the amount of players online.
My PC has not changed hardwear wise, same ISP.
Trace route to the EVE servers are fine.
Seems to disconnect after about 5 mins, it can be while on autopilot or doing missions or PVP, there are no certain situations it happens.
CCP we need your help!!
BTW I have petitioned with attached Logserver files, DirectX etc.

I'm upping the post , and hoping some guys still have the issue, or have the answer...
Disconnections every hours, or so... on my wireless laptop... This sh** is EVE related, I really have no problems with other programs... I m losing drones every f***** hour and this makes baby Spriggy very angry

Yeah I have the same issue, although I bought the game like 7 days ago.
The disconnections are VERY frequent (10minutes or less, sometimes in less than a minute) within peak times (more than 28K players or so).
Like "Marchocias" said, the game freezes but chat and voice chat still work for a time. I can usually tell cause my drones have stopped firing, so I tell my corp am gonna be back cause I'm being disconnected. And then I am, I relog in (without delay or waiting time) without a problem and I'm back online in my ship. The only problem is that I have to go fetch my drones and sometimes they were killed by the ennemies I was fighting against...
SO, to sum it up, it's getting very frustrating to play this game in peak time (when it's usually "fun time" also) and the only proposed 'solution' I found through all of these forums is to use both OpenVPN and Your Freedom websites to make it work.
As I posted in a different thread, I do not think this should be a valid solution (to use a third party program); CCP should be able to resolve this issue. Otherwise, CCP should just create a walkthrough on how to use such a service (VPN I mean).
That said, from what I found out in the EVE forums, the CCP team has enough information to resolve this issue. So, as paying custommers, we would like to know 'what's the hold-up?'!
To the other players out there:
1-Did changing the cache settings work?
2-Did the 'multiple chat windows' work?
3-Did the VPN thing work?
4-Did the 'shadows quality' work?
I'd like to resolve this issue, cause I don't see why I should pay for a game that 'prevents' me from playing in peak time hours. EVE Online looks like a very entertaining game, but I'd like to play it when it's 'entertaining'.
The only sasfe thing to do right now is to mine in high security systems...

Hi there,
It is sad foryou to have this trouble in the beginning of the game... I will simply quit because it is so boring to be disconnected every X minutes...
It happens since August... never had troubles before... CCP is just ignoring the fact. really dissapointed.
I'm trying the cache cleaning atm... will send some feedback. I ve tried the multiple chat windows.. it appeared to work sometimes.. but today it just started again.
I am disconnected at every moment of the day.. not only at peak times... It is really curious. Obviously it only happens on my laptop (wireless)... but we will see in the next few days.
i will also try the port 26000 thing...

Hi,
The problem still occurs when clearng the cache, when opening many windows, and when changing the 26000 port. It became even worse yesterday evening, my router stopped multiple times... and don t tell me it s not EVE 's fault.
I will try to reset the router each time... and send some feedback again.
WE NEED TO SOLVE THIS F****** PROBLEM, I m not paying 3 accounts to disconnect every 5 minutes.

The same problem started happening to me a couple weeks ago. Random disconnects and lag spikes. Some days it is worse than others... but I always end up getting a lost connection, at least 3 times an hour. Today, I just got 6 in a 20 minute period. The game is getting to be unplayable. I was in the middle of a mission and lost connection. When I came back, I was at 25% armor, and barely was able to warp out...
I was thinking about going for another account, but if this keeps up I might reconsider. I am glad to see that I am not the only one with this problem, and if a large amount of people keep coming forward about this, then the blame can be pointed the other direction.
My connection is fine, my router is fine. All trace routes are fine. I hope to see this problem solved soon. =/

I will agree to that!
My router (Lynksys Wireless G - WRT54G, although I am hardplugged in it, not using the wireless function) is setup in 'port forwarding' and 'port triggering' for the ports 26000, 3724 and 7 to my 'EVE computer'. My router is set to respond to pings and such things. My firewall is set so that it does not block anything from the EVE Server Adress (###.##.39.200) so that my computer can respond to pings and such.
I've tried pinging the EVE server indefinitely and changing the port (from 26000 to 3724) to no result. I did not try the multiple chat windows (am still new to EVE, and couldn't find how to open a 'few hundred people chatter windows') and did not try the VPN thing yet.
I would really like to finally resolve this issue.

Installed eve on my new computer, it now crashes within 2 sec and 3 min(total system crash, have to reboot and everything). I even crash at the login screen, I once managed to stay ingame for a grand total of 3 min.
Visual details of the crash: mouse pointer disappears, screen freezes. Can`t get back to windows(vista), and have to reboot manually.
I tried pretty much all the solutions proposed on forums starting from reinstalling, to trying classical and premium version, to updating all drivers, to disabling sound,...
I think i tried pretty much everything and am getting quite desperate, I need my fix damnit lol!
The log do not show anything. I suppose it does not have the time to save data since I get a total system crash. and the dump files show nothing either. I also get the exact same crash with both clients.
Here is my config:
Medion MS-7327 OS: Vista Home premium 6.0 Processor: AMD Phenom 9500 quad-core 3326mb ram dx10 nvdia Geforce 8400 GS approx mem 1523 mb
all drivers are up to date.
I would really appreciate any help i can get, I am out of ideas to fix this crash and wanna play badly!
Tx in advance
Update: I just noticed the client would run fine as long as I DID NOT move the mouse. As soon as I start moving the mouse around a bit, at the login screen or in the game, the game freezes and crashes.I am using a tablet(bamboo fun), but the same problem keeps occuring after I uninstalled it

I believe this could be ISP oriented as I run 2 chars on 1 comp and 2 chars on another and if one char goes down all 4 will end up DCing.
Could be the user's dynamic IP aspect or something similar.
I'm not saying that this is definitely what is happening but just what I have come up with from my own observations. -

I get the same random bouts of DC happening to my PC every once in a while. Normally this can take place on the weekends which I thought was the immeadiate problem. However I've noted it happening on some weekdays peak times and offpeak hours.
I'm running through the cable, so i'm not using the wireless. Listed with Virgin Media in the U.K.
Strangest thing.

Yeah, I tried that and it's true!
Although right now it's kinda peak time (35'000 players) and am getting disconnections VERY often...about one every 5 minutes or less!
