i didnt want to derail the helicopter thread...
which barrel did you put on the A5? i used to go with the flatline but ive switched to the J&J, accuracy is quite better at range.
have you seen the new cyclone internals? they beefed up the sprocket/ratchet thing which always breaks.
also what pistol did you get for only $65? tiberius t9 is what i use (low profile is fantastic for sniping)

that's ALL there is to it, really, don'T believe any marketing hype.
short version: get different bore sizes in about a small a medium and a largeish diameter. also two tips are beneficial. so get a cheap barrel set that either meets your needs or is configurable. edit: i think .681 (when you get small paints in cold weather), .684 (for almost everything) and a .689 (for large paints in hot weather) is a good compromise. also i tend to have a tip that brings my length to 10" (its funny how people think longer barrel bring better accuracy in paintball - read the articles) for general play and a 14" to push sup airs aside.
the flatline is a funny idea, but not really a proper barrel.
also, lol a5 :D

My current barrels are custom made 20's with interchangeable tips. I also carry a howitzer bolt and a heavier spring. I've thought about doing a flatline for my 98 though since 98 flatlines are longer than A5's. One gun I saw at shop the guy managed to fit a 98 flatline onto his A5 and it looked pretty sweet. He removed the forward handle which gave it a unique look.
I haven't done anything yet with my internals but I know about the changes. My guy at the shop carries all the changes. Luckily I haven't broken anything yet which is amazing considering the amount of paint that's gone through it. My friend however went through about 5 of those gears before getting a metal one.
As for the pistol I picked up a Delta 67 from my friend and he bought a Delta in turn. Unfortunately my O-ring for the C02 tube blew out and I haven't been able to find a replacement yet (kits are usually sold out when I finally have cash).
And say what you want about the A5 but I like tippman guns cause they're durable. I see many times in between games where people are tearing apart ions and other speedball guns due to some issue but I might take mine apart just to clean it some (gun gets hit alot). They take a massive amount of abuse, I like to think of the 98 as the AK-47 of paintball.

Paintball would be so much more fun without the fully automatic 'spray and pray' approach.
Is it evolving at all or is that just it, as many buckets of paint per second as possible?
That being said we're heading out again with work, can't turn down a 20vs20 firefight.
Should/would/could have, HAVE you chav!

Fire speed doesn't make the game, players do. Currently I'm a spray n pray fighter with 3 round bursts on the A-5. If I tap the trigger though I can hose the area. Thing is though I can waste an entire hopper and not hit a thing while many times I've had guys (and girls) run up and pop me once. Some people use less than 500 paintballs in a game and some go through a box. Generally my objective is to pin people down so the runners and out flank the enemy. I carry 6 pods on me and I usually go through them all (hence the pistol).
When I get the time and money I'm going to revert my 98 back to single shot since the response trigger is really picky and I'll be placing a Q-loader on it in place of the cyclone.

Stay away from Qloaders bro, trust me....
Plus, as far as spray n pray - if youre playing speedball thats all it is (there is a slight amount of tactics to shooting lanes and garbage) but woodsball is still highly based upon shoot n move.
now granted, there are times when you want a heavy gunner to get rounds downrange (especially when he has a barrel especially ported to gather attention with the sound) just so us runners can get around to flank the guy.
direct fire hardly works unless its a 'to the pain' scenario.
anyways, i really do not suggest Qloader because of a couple things:
-pain in the ass to attach -pain in the ass to reload the pods -when the system breaks, your gun is broke (no field fix) -expensive pods -100 round pods -heavier gear
the only pro ive really seen to using the system is having a low profile gun. you guys who know, know that getting shot in the hopper is the suck and it happens a lot if youre dumb.

yes, i know what you mean, and i agree with you on the tippman products but the a5 is a kind of a spork; also there are some proper speedball guns out there that you can use (and abuse). you dont need to dig trenches with it.
problem is, most people are clueless and dont know how to set up their guns. I love my eblade1 ****er (pretty oldskool, pretty fast, sounds like a gnome jackhammer) and i have yet to have a ball break (after i stopped the eye from receiving sunlight that is). im serious, it got a shitload of paints through it, like maybe 100 to 200k balls, even bad and old and stinky paint, just for shits and giggles, and i kid you not, NOT A SINGLE ballbreak.
yes, i cant submerge it in water, and i need to charge a battery when i come home, but that's about it.
even if the modern paintball scene is going towards this shocker/ion/matrix bolt style guns (and i can see why) i despise them. those are truly non-ak47 designs, with several o-rings running over each other and the user relying on temperature and grease compatibitly. **** that.
and yes, i love woodball and i played a lot of guns. i stay with ****ers. the closed bolt kind, that is.theyre actually pretty tough to break, even if they dont look that way. and theyre even easier to clean, because its... pull pin, pull bolt, swab, wipe, push bolt, push pin.
its an incredibly efficient design, even if the 3way looks like its part of a steam engine.

I personally don't do tournies myself. Most of the time it's military kills (elbow down, knee down, gun shots don't count). If I had to go the tournie approach my gun would suddenly transform into a MP5 with no added toys sticking off it.
To date I've only seen one Q-loader in action and I did notice the Capitan was having spring issues with it. My guy at the shop mentioned it was very picky with paint size. But the low profile does make it nice.
As for woodsball vs. speedball I'll take woods any day of the week. No offense to any speed ballers out there but ya'all hold your guns like a bunch of girls (and no offense to any ladies out there). Never could understand the fun in a game that lasts 5 minutes and people spending the next hour talking about how cool it was.
With woods we get to do fun scenarios like medic, capture the flag, ambush, and many others.

you'll never play proper paintball that way. next thing you know is people doing blind shooting ala rainbow six vegas.
i played both for years, tourneys and woodland, and id chose woodland over it anydays. but you know... speedball tought me to play some clean and tight paintball.
edit; i bet you'd love the oklahoma d-day

Soldier gets hit in the gun and chances are the gun saves his life, theres a reason they hold it across their chest pointing down. Hell that same tactic saved our captain once. To me (AS AN OPINION) it's stupid to NOT get hit on your person and have to call out. Feel that paintball I say (unless it hits a pod or something). Hell my last game a guy must've hit me 7 times, but it was all in the shin and while it started getting painfull I kept playing and he ended up colored in pink (my favorite color to hit enemy troops with).

I prefer the urban courses myself, nothing like taking a corner and having your own teammate freak and shoot you in the groin. Or knowing you're the only one left on your team and there's about 10 of them around somewhere, everywhere.

One of our stores has a little indoor urban type of setting that we used a few times.
I remember one time it was LEP against LEP with a couple of little kids for target practice. I was in the kill box watching the last of the fight and I could see my friend Nate in the doorway of one of the buildings (off to the side). Just then another friend Mike playing the opposite team ran up and kneeled down on the other side of the wall. I'm standing there laughing because neither knows the other is there. Mike leans around the wall to shoot into the doorway at somebody that was back in a bunker and all Nate saw was a barrel sticking in so he left handed his gun and stuck it around the corner right into Mikes face and told him to surrender. I swear Mike almost crapped himself.
