I play on a 24" widescreen with 16:9 ratio. Using EVEs highest res of 1920..., Im using Fraps to capture the video at 60 FPS.
I see other players vids and they look fantastic! Is Fraps giving me bad quality?
Even the raw capture doesn't look that great.
Would I be better off using something like Premiere to edit my video?

Whatever you do, be sure to set your project up at the same res as your captured footage. (a¦á_a¦â) ~ http://getoutnastyface.blogspot.com/ ~ (a¦á_a¦â) |

Can't answer your question, but I know what you mean. As an example, I re-watched Prometheus Exenthal's ''Science & Intrigue'' vid the other day and it just looks smoother than most of the other regular pvp movies out there. I haven't noticed the same quality on many other videos (even his later works) but something about that one really shines. |

Seems like an obvious one, but I'll mention it anyway. You say you have EVE set to run at the highest res possible, you do have 'use full resolution' checked in fraps right? (as opposed to half). Otherwise I'm not sure what the issue would be, most likely how you are playing the FRAPS back, because FRAPS should always be perfect quality.
Another issue could be that despite you checking to Record at 60fps, it can't be forced. It may only be recording at 20 in reality for example.
Not trying to insult your intelligence with these suggestions but sometimes the basic stuff gets overlooked. I use Sony Vegas + After Effects to edit the vids I have done btw. Good luck. |

Fraps Premiere After Effects Adobe Media Encoder
Would be good to see:
1) Example footage 2) Screenshot of your Encoder settings 2) Screenshot of Fraps settings
60 fps is excessive, imho, all your doing is increasing the file size.
YouTube runs at 30 fps.

I get the same problem, make my vids all in super smooth 60 fps, but once it gets to youtube its down to 30 lol, upload the original to eve files or something so people can download and watch in FULL fps :)
Also I am seeing more colour grading and stuff on the newer videos, troll the net for some grading presets (if your not experienced in it) and test them out, its hard finding a good one though since eve is pretty dark anyways, crushing the darker colours to much is common. But even increasing the brightness and contrast a little can make eve look very different. |

Thanks for the info guys.
Zach, no offense mate, if you don't ask you'll never know.
I run my Fraps at Full-Size on 60fps. It might even be Fraps itself, its probably an old version 2.5.5 (build 4430). I will update that and see if it improves, I will also try out those other Apps for editing.
Movie Maker is fine for filming your kids or wildlife, but this is serious spaceship business! |

Just an update, it was the FRAPS I was using. Upgraded to the latest and the raw footage is crystal clear. |

yes, you were using a version from 2005 - maybe if you actually bought the product you wouldn't have the issue in the first place.
It's less than a round of beer and you get updates for the rest of your existence.
What's more, they email you to tell you there is an update.

Recording your video gfx output directly on a hd video cam ? I think this a possible way to make a high quality video.
Has anyone experience with it? |
