Originally by: Devilish Ledoux Yes, Andreus tried to get help from other Fed Militia corporations. The results were predictable. At the moment, one of three possible events could save Mixed Metaphor. One of those events would occur if Andreus decides that he cares more for his corporation than he does for his ego. One would occur if/when his employees get tired of waiting for him to place corporation over ego. One would occur if Exalted decides to show mercy apropos of nothing. I can't calculate the odds of the first two, but the odds that the third event will occur are likely to be very low.
I'm somewhat disappointed that Andreus decided to retract his declaration of war on me. However, I didn't really expect him to pay for the privilege of fighting in the first place, but it's fair to say that he didn't get his money's worth. I, on the other hand, got so much value for what I paid.
That's nice. I'm wondering when all you brave souls will stop smacking MXD's name about and assume that they are doomed because they are at war with X Y Z and so on...
You are really making yourself look like idiots here, at least to me. MXD declared was on Naquam over their own reasons, either actually founded on a cause or due to the ego of Mr.Andreus. Later they get dragged into a war with the rest of you, or they declare war on the rest of you as well. big deal really, who knows, perhaps they actually manage to kill more than they lose to you, or win the war(s) by some other means, maybe they don't.
But whatever happends, all I see here is all of MXD's enemies bragging about how their going to/are killing MXD, and ofcurse how doomed they are etc. I'm getting rather tired of people like you that flaunt their ego's in public or pat others on the back for their (supposed) destruction of others.
Instead of bragging about your skills or assumed victory, why don't show us PROFF that your indeed so hardcore that MXD is doomed to defeat? I don't know, war statistics or something, anything other than this mindless drivel in here.

I believe the fact that the last several pages of the thread have been chronicling (without a single peep of objection from Andreus, I might add) the rather frantic and graceless retreat to Solitude by your allies, I'm not sure what other "PROFF" you might be interested in. |

You appear to be making the mistake of assuming that MXD's silence on the matter implies anything at all. Frankly, the fact that they aren't talking enough trash to form a large-ish moon is, in my not-very-humble-at-all opinion, infinitely more admirable than the constant stream of verbal sewage that seems to be oozing from the other side.
"Open mouths, open hulls", as the old saw has it. A few alternatives: "Silence is golden", "loose lips scuttle ships" and, my personal favourite: "the wise man says little and knows much, the fool says much and knows little". -

It would be somewhat contrary to some of his former behaviour, I'll admit. Still, people can change.
I can't remember seeing a variant of "He has done X in the past therefore the fact that he's doing Y now means Z" on any list of logical fallacies that I've ever read, but perhaps it should be added. -

I believe this one would fall under "denying the antecedent".
Anyhow...your defense of this man intrigues me. I think you have a soft spot for the underdog in all things, Mr Stitcher. I see few so eager to champion absurdities as you.
Don't get me wrong though dear, I admire it.

Also seems slightly hypocritical of him to complain about Naqam 'Fleeing' to Delve, and not fighting when they came to the Federation. And then 'Flee' (or move, whichever really) to Solitude.
But I'm bored of this thread so this shall be my last entry. Good fighting to all involved.

If you're right, it would probably end his current troubles. Of course, while it is a step in the right direction, I don't believe that simply staying silent is going to be enough of a change. The enemies he's made require more. _

I do not care for the politics around discussions. I do not care for the politics around fights. I care for the fights and discussions themselves. Having said that, I would like to mention that Mr. Ixiris was disappointed earlier when he got two war declarations. He had indeed only ôaskedö for one.
Exalted. now has three wars and two more starting shortly. Instead of being ôdisappointedö I would like to ask Mr. Ixiris, Mr. Faust and the rest of MXD; ôCan we now start the fighting?ö
I would very much like to collect the ôproofö for Mr. Bloodbird.

By all means, go right ahead. you see, I honestly don't care to much about the results, I'm just tired of the hollow chest-beating in here. The moment you got proff it won't be hollow chest-beting anymore, just chest-beating.
Annoying all the same, but at least you will have reasons for it.

Well, I Know it's a bit hard to believe, but little old Andy has managed to persuade a couple of alliances to dec us, to give him a hand like. Sad part is they ain't much better than MXD, 2 more carriers down tonight as well as 15-ish other ships, all for the loss of, well, some drones I think. Turns out being best mates with Andy can be pretty pricy.

I make you right there, sad I know but I was planetside on 'business' and missed this one, so i'm kinda going off what i've learnt off me mates. For what it's worth anyway, the two alliances he's roped in to help his little out of control ego-trip are F.E.A.R and Akegata Consortium 418, and no, I adn't heard of em either until I get the comm from Concord.

Victory? good. Decisive victory? even better. a victory pulled off in overwhelming style? Congratulations, but by all the spirits of space and time, would it kill you to show just a glimmer of humility?

Edited by: Jacob Etienne on 23/08/2008 10:38:26 Well, Stitcher, maybe you'd understand better if you'd had to endure the unbelievably misguided arrogance and bravado displayed by MXD pilots, who seemed convinced that as soon as their 150+ allies arrived to bail them out that Exalted. forces would be left running to the winds, with much weeping, moaning, and gnashing of teeth. Surely, with superior numbers they would wipe us off any field of battle with casual ease.
In the engagement in question, we jumped through a gate to engage far numerically superior forces (albeit with superior skill, experience and firepower as an advantage on our side), scattered them from the gate after inflicting serious losses, then proceeded to destroy a Thanatos class carrier dropped 60k from us on the gate, and an Archon class carrier who appeared to assist.
We ourselves deployed an Archon class vessel on initial jump-in, and this may have been the escalation point, as it prompted their Thanatos to appear. We later brought in a second carrier, Thanatos class, by cyno to assist with destroying the two carriers once the support had been routed.
I think given the appalling display of hubris displayed by MXD, their allies, and a certain Mr. Ixiris in particular in local and other channels before the engagement, I think that Exalted. are justified in perhaps having a moment of extreme satisfaction.
