As much gank as possible, and then the biggest plate you can fit.
Waste 'em before they can waste you. Vexor can do obscene gank DPS for a cruiser. --

There is already a nano-Vexor thread on the last page or two so check that out if you are interested in a nano setup. As far as my favorite Vexor setup which I have flown solo on occasion:
Highs: 4x Light Neutron Blasters w/ Antimatter or Void 1x Nos or Neut
Mids: 1x MWD 1x Web 1x Disruptor
Lows: 1x 1600mm Tungsten Plating 2x EANM 1x Damage Control
Drones: 6x Hammerhead II 7x Warrior II
T2 stuff works if you can afford it, especially for the DC and Neutrons... otherwise it's a cheap setup to run. You're going to be a bit slow aligning and warping with the big plate so watch for camps. I also got myself totally ****d in this setup once by a nano-Arbi. Just keep in mind that you are slow and anything that you CAN catch in your web will go down pretty fast. ----- http://evenewb.blogspot.com/

Replace one of those EANM with a Mag Field Stab says I. And Moar guns, fit a 3% PG implant and replace one of the light Neutrons and the Nos/Neut slot with 2 medium Electrons. --

That could be tricky with only 4 turret points, you should only comment on ships you have flown and mixing guns is rarely a good thing.

Is the staple plate vexor fit, I would use a 2h/2m/1l and 5 lights drone mix though for max dps and a quick bunch for any semi nano ships. Another alternative is pure gank making full use of the bonuses to mid blasters. A nasty 500 to 700 dps can be put out by these with good skills. Which you prefer will come down to your taste.

4x Light Neutron Blaster II 1x Prototype Cloaking Device (For when you get blobbed)
1x MWD 1x Warp Disruptor II 1x Stasis Web II
1x DCU II 1x 1600 Rolled Tungsten 2x Magnetic Field Stabilizer
5 hammerhead II, 5 warrior II, 5 ??? ----------------------------------------------------------
Alternatively, 2 medium neuts, 3 small nos, for breaking tanks. Drop the magstabs for EANMs, hardeners, maybe a repper if you have the grid. (downside to an armor buffer tank, solo, is that you might need to dock and repair after one fight without a repper.)

Might not be recommended, and is a ***** to fit(actually not sure if it fits without implants, someone try it with EFT). But darn fun. =)

PDS doesn't work, will only fit with maxed out PG skills, an RCU and a +5% PG implant. It will do 662 dps with max skills but IMO, for pure gank a rax would do a better job and be easier to fit. But hey, that's still a fun fit.

Oh noes, I got owned
Seriously, my bad on the typo, of course I only meant 4 guns, thank you for being courteous in pointing it out .
Mixed gun setups work fine between light and medium blasters, the range and tracking variation is of little concern when you are getting into close quarters. Packing medium electrons on a gank Vexor nets you significantly more DPS than light neutrons, and you should swap out as many of the little guns for the big ones as you can. --

This is what im talking about. A Vexor will never out DPS/tank a thorax, but the vexor is hands down the better choice for 1600mm buffertanks. Besides you can fit Ions and ECM drones and you will have a very powerful gank cruiser with a bit of utility aswell.
EVE is like the "Fisherman's Friend" of MMOs. If it's too hard, you are too weak. |

sorry about that, apparently I was in quiet a shitty mood yesterday but it does get old seeing impossible fits or things that just don't work in practise hailed as better. All true stuff on the guns too hence the 'rarely' ;)

I used to run a solo-PVP Vexor a few years ago before I trained for BS and T2 gear... It's a great ship, one of the best in the cruiser class.
Back in my day (before the HP boost and ECM nerf) I used to regularly eat BCs with it. I haven't flown one in a while, but you can't go wrong playing to the bonuses. I know a lot of people like the big plate/small guns approach, but with 10% dmg to medium hybrids per level, I can't pass that up.
I don't know if this fits (can't use EFT, I'm at work), but give it a try:
Highs:
Mids:
- 1x 10mn AB
- 1x Warp Disruptor
- 1x Stasis Webifier
Lows:
- 1x Medium Armor Repairer
- 1x Damage Control Unit
- 1x Energized Adaptive Nanomembrane
- 1x Energized Reactive Membrane
Drones:
- 1x Berserker
- 5x Hammerheads
Like I said... not sure if it all fits, but it should be close. You can drop the MAR for a plate or a small rep if you need to. Also, don't engage unless you're fairly close. ;)

then t1 till you have
or if you have alot of liquid iskies, augmented drones.
actually, till i had t2 heavies, 5x medium II felt like it was doing more damage than slow t1 heavies over the course of a fight.

Works well with T1 heavies too, but T2 is what makes the vexor shine. This drone setup can easily gank haulers at the lowsec gates with the right fit (1600mm plate, resists), and even have time to loot before you have to bail out. ___

Thanks for some excellent ideas !!
This character has about 11million SP in Drones. But limited Gunnery and other combat support SP, since it was originally an industrial character. So, I plan to use a lot of inexpensive fittings for the time being...and bring the T2 drones of death
Also have BP's for Vexor's...so, when they go "boom"...I can just build another
