I agree with the damage related points, but with the fact that 80% of fleet fights are laggy as hell, and drones/fighters and pos's are the only damage dealers in such situations, i would think a domi + drone range extenders + some nasty drones <valkyries for mix of speed and damage, ogre's if enemies are close> +focus fire + auto aggro - should be able to do some wonders. --------------------------------------------- Meet Eve's most paranoid carebear - Ambani! |

I wasn't saying a Snipathron or a rokh aren't better for sniper fleets but if you dont have the skills (which the OP doesn't seem to have), then he can use the ships at his disposle just fit them to roles there good at dont try and snipe with a domi etc...
And i just had to throw a Raven comment in there lol. Most of the posts here are constructive, just see what your fleet will be doing and fit accordingly. Experience will improve what setups you choose for differnent situations.
Good Luck.

I disagree Just as you shouldn't sit in a scorpion with bs lvl1, you shouldn't sit in a domi with bs lvl1. If you are that low in skill, you are just a lag inducing flying brick (and an expensive one, too, as you won't have the funds to replace them as easy as a vet with good skills) and much more useful in something fast for scouting, giving warp ins, or in something you are more skilled in (or can reach effective levels fast), like ew.

Could you please link to me some of the posts or threads where people are saying to not bring drone ships? ~-~-~-~-~ -[WillChat4ISK]- I can be the handsome Amarr space captain. You can be the helpless Minmatar slave girl. |

Domi can be fitted for sniping but you wonŠt have any buffer besides DC II in that case (6 x 425mm Railgun II needs 3 RCU II). Reason people donŠt tend to use it is because mega and also hyperion dish out more gun damage and are easier to fit.

domi is a huge ass ambulance, the drones are only useful when in a safe repping people, just fit some cap reps and remote armor reps.
Drones aren't an exploit, they are just awfully coded in the game these days as they generate x5 amounts of data about their x,y,z plot info + speed + direction facing hitpoints etc.
If CCP made them all one entity, the amount of useless data they generate could be reduced 80% there by helping reduce the lag created as clients are suddenly forced to read the useless amounts of network data on drone movements (the fact they orbit and move constantly just increases the amount of useless data).
I love the concept of drones, its just awful when they are released. Its like 5 times the number of players are in the system all of a sudden and it doesn't scale well when you are talking gangs of 50+. Heck, I've been on many a gate camp that is perfectly fine until everyone releases their drones, then its stoopidly laggy for everyone for a while until all clients catch up.
Also, cap ships and fighters, tremendous amounts of data and lag created. Just sit in a system while your cap pilots are bowling pos's. Boring and laggy until the cap pilots pull their drones / fighters back in.
Didn't want to turn this into a drone whine cause I love drones, its just they aren't well implemented. For constructive critique, I already said 'make all drones 1 entity' when it comes to network code, like a ship with 1,2,3,4 or 5 guns. Not 5 ships with 1 gun.
Ogre IIs are pretty much the only heavy drone to bother with as on average, thermal is the weakest link on all ships pvp fitted. -- A guy walks into the psychiatrist wearing only clingfilm for shorts. The shrink says, "Well, I can clearly see you're nuts." |
