I think i have the answer. The biggest problem in EVE is the lag. The lag is due to large amount of players on the same server. By incresing the price of GTC many players will leave, but also the higher price will compensate, in terms of profits, this players. So the cluster is less lagy but CCP will make the same profits, or even more. Not to mention that this move is a direct hit to all the players from Europe. That is because if i pay by credit card i will pay 23 dollars, bu i had the option to buy a 30 day GTC with 14.95 dollar + VAT. Now this option has gone and my only to options are to pay 23 dollars for 1 month or 34.99 + VAT for 2 months.

In the end i think this is a little experiment. The GTC trade will affect a small amount of players, and CCP want to see if the increase of price will really compensate for the leaving players, and if this will work I am sure that in the near future they will increase also the credit card and pay by cash subscriptions. And from them it will be a good thing. Instead of investing money in servers upgrades, they can lower the server population and making the same profits in this time (if not more).
