I am looking to put together an alliance from scratch. I have substantial leadership exp in other MMO's and after playing EVE in conjunction with other games for the past few years. I am ready to put something very exciting together. My characters are currently sitting in a 0.0 corp in one of the largest alliance. I thought it would be a good time to study the successes and failures of such an alliance. This is what I found:
- Admitting corps into the Alliance that will come and go, with no true allegiance to the alliance.
- Allowing some of their better corps to not feel like they have a say in policies.
- Having a large quantity of un-published goals. This isolates your average member as well as fails to generate any kind of excitement about future projects.
- Lack of organized industry
- Senseless PVP without a clear objective
- Little sense of fraternity of community
Corps view other corps in alliance as rivals rather than partners
You may ask what kinds of players this alliance would want as a member. The target is:
- Power players. The movers and shakers of EVE. Giving them the tools, the market, and the military opportunities that would attract such talented players.
- Social Gamers. Social gamers are the backbone of recruitment. The reason why SA has had such success with EVE is because Goons are social entities. They post on forums, they make friends and support them. (Although I would not like to continue the tasteless shenanigans that Goonswarm takes part it)
- The Follower. These isk-generating machines like to be told what to do and they get bored when there is no direction. These are the people that silently leave corps, search for someone to tell them what to do. They are essential to a successful alliance.
Now you may ask what the benefit of trying to create something with me would be as opposed to joining some established PVP alliance and making money being their war machine.
Here I want to find like-minded people who want to have a say in what goes on. Who want to help create the systems. Who get that with careful planning, we can be a potential power in EVE.
I am not the most skilled PVPer, brilliant military tactician, or a genius industrialist. I am however, very good with people, and to that end I can usually accomplish what I set out to do. I am also not a jerk (something than can be rare in alliance leadership). The only time I am ever involved in drama is attempting to mediate it to a resolution.
What I am seeking at this moment is members for a commitee to start an alliance. I have one prominent member of the EVE industrial community on the commitee with an established corp ready to power a war machine. I am speaking with some other PVPers at the moment, but what I am specifically seaking is the right person to lead a fleet (who has an established corp).
Once we have all the commitee positions filled we will start disscussions to see where we want to take this. We will draw up plans and take it slow enough so that we get it right the first time, however do not be mistaken, we will be moving at a deliberate pace. This is not something I am planning on talking about for months, and progress will be made daily.
