Finally some one with the right idea. The repatriation of slaves over freeing them has not been a high prioity as of late, which in of itself is a dire shame. I have been reluctant to hand my free slave population and have taken it on myself and my megure resources to try and give them decent homes, education and the abilty to profit from their labours. We have to understand though that a slave is often accustomed to both hard work and in many cases abuse at thhe hands oof their handlers. They will expect the same treatment. My treatment has been thus
1: Reducation the abilty to choose ones own path in life This is difficult however as it can have one of two effects. Either the slave in question can be too grateful and dedicate his service to you for life, or he can learn what it is to be lazy and unproductive not only to soceirty but to himself. Oft times it is extreamly difficult to find a happy medium.
2: show them what it means to profit from their work. Again this too has it drawbacks. Some do not know what to do withh their hard earned isk, and let it simply slide or leave it to their mentors to spend their money for them on basic nesscities. Others have been known to get greedy and even enter thhe sllave trade themselves, most times these latter trustees tend to be more vile handllers than their previous owners. agsin another difficult task is to find a happy medium
3: Others are simply beyond any hope. Slavery has been thheir life, they can see nothing else. Even refuse to see it. They see this as a choice rather than the options and opportunities open to them. They would rather serve as the difficulties in making the greater descions is just too much for them to bear. These poor souls in effect become slaves to their rescuers, making an all too viscious circle.
