I just put 3 core defence field purgers on my cormorant instead of the drake they were meant for  Now, I'm left with no isk and a still-crappy Drake 
So, I want to hear some other people's stories about dumb things they've done, to make me feel better while I grind up the isk for a new set of rigs 
What are the biggest mistakes you've ever made in Eve?

Well, today I put 6 cargo rigs up on the market (with my industrial alt) for 20 mil less than I meant to. They were sold automatically to the highest buy order for the amount I put them up for. 120 mil lost just like that.

1) Escrowed a battleship to a member of mOo for 0isk
In my defence it was a lot easier to do back in those days
I then had to deal with dozens of convo's from members of mOo asking for free ships :/
2) 3 weeks into the game I put all my worldly possessions into my newly purchased industrial ... though I would take a shortcut through 1 jump of low sec ...... you can imagine the rest :)

Lose a Cerberus with full T2 fit on a level 3 because I thought I could speed tank them, while I went to get some waffles.
Or lose a retriever while mining one night to get the last of the veld needed to build my covetor. I fell asleep then awoke 20 minutes later wondering where my ship was, and why I had mail. Lucky that was insured.

Swear to god it's true. Lost it to scrambling NPCs in the Zirizert system about two years ago, when I was in the Huzzah Alliance (if I remember correctly). I tried to use the repair drones on myself without researching it beforehand.
Unfortunately you won't find it on killboards, didn't post my first loss until about 1.5 years ago. Besides, it was kind of embarrassing

Someone on these forums said he ganked one of his alt while pirating because he was drunk :)
My dumbest moment is trying to break a Bob camp with an indus full of stuff, knowing they were there and hoping some luck or something.... Well woups :)

Hmm... tough choice.
I guess "creating an alt that reached 21 mil SP that I almost never use" would qualify as stupidest thing I've actually done.
P.S. Ok, not *creating* it. Actually continuing to do something with it past trial status.
P.P.S. Yes, it's over 21 mil SP. It's training Surgical Strike level 5 while inactive right now, while large Energy Turret level 5 is only 5 days away (73% done), and all prereqs for the specs are done already.

Took a Dominix out to a mission, took a beating, tried to kill off the interceptors so I could warp out. Why the hell are my drones taking so long to kill that last scrambler? Armour ticks down, I start to panic.
Realised just a little too late that my drones were targeting a Loyal Sansha cruiser, not the frigate.

Lost a vaga to a camp in HED as i forgot i was now neutral to IAC. ( this was some time ago )
"Never mind" I thought after being podded and made my way to the nearest vaga for sale.
Fitted this new ship in the same station I bought it in and undocked only to be blatted in short order by Concord as my sec was just slightly too low at the time.

Lost a rigged recon to CONCORD then lost another one a week later to CONCORD again, and after that my sec was too low to enter the system where all my stuff was
those were accidents caused by lag n such but I also lost a cruiser attacking in high sec thinkin it was low sec

Criminal aggression on a high to low sec freighter op. Think it was on the way back from low to high sec some odd reason I got a timer from shooting something. On the gate to high sec I hear over TS don't jump right as I click jump. Make it 2km back to the gate and concord rips me a new one in half a second. That hurricane survived multiple blobs I was a little disappointed concord managed to snag it in the end.

My turn?
The stupidest thing I have done in EvE...was forgetting to unload my carrier of one and a half years worth of 0.0 faction loot, before going back on a solo patrol.
Hell there were only 4 reds in system, I can take them, err, 10 reds, err 22 reds, oh all T2 and BS...and damn me I am jammed silly. Most painful 30 min of my life in EvE.
Second worse screwup is related to the first, as my insurance expired 4 days before :-D
Total hit was about 7 billion, which is peanuts to an industrialist or miner, but a fortune to a part time ratter.
Alcohol makes EvE fun for me at least every other week I play this game after the pub and wake up the next day several hundred mil poorer!

1. Using Pod-Air twice in a short time and forgot to upgrade the clone after the first one. Cost me almost half of AWU V.
2. Setting up a sell-order in Jita for 200 Datacores. Due to lag i typed a price of 449 mil instead of 449k... Broker-fee was 334mil then.

I undocked in low-sec and a -10 pirate was already waiting in front of station. I really wanted to have a look at his shiny ship (Absolution) and zoomed in ... while he was targeting my shuttle. He killed my ship and pod. Total loss: 500m in implants...
... but a look at this beautiful ship was it worth.

Lost my first battlecruiser ever to a DED 5/10 plex not knowing rats could warp scramble.
Lost my second battlecruiser ever to two lowsec pirates because I trusted my mate that said gate guns could instapop hostiles... not sure to blame him or the alcohol that made it believable
Lost a mining Mega to highsec frigate rats because I went afk to break up with my girlfriend. I think the argument waking up four people and ending quite badly was less embarassing than the shield-tanked honorthron fit. At least the breakup I had an excuse for, that battleship fit however was downright wrong.

1) Did the battleship challenge with Curzon Dax, was very drunk, targetted the referee by mistake and let loose a full rack... Concord turned up and I lost a fully T2 fitted Hyperion...
2) Falling alseep at keyboard due to intoxication- have lost- Raven, Domi, Helios, Mega (although one time in another Mega fell asleep on Stacmon gate in Ostingele- peeps thought I was bait and so didn't engage me- 3 hours I was asleep there and the Mega survived )
3) At war.. podded, jump into new ship undocked... podded... lost Recon 5
4) Engaged and scrammed a Raven @ 50km in an Arazu (OK yes I was drunk) waiting for the other recons to come and attack (I forgot to turn on the Dampners) only took 2 torp volleys to kill me- didn't realise til afterwards
No doubt there are more but I go gotta get a drink to sober me up.

Okay, it wasn't just that. I was watching episodes of my fav TV show (Whose finale is today ) looking up stuff on wikipedia, screwing around with my UT3 editor, and listening to music (Low, so I could still hear my TV show.)
After noticing the gunshot noises seemed to have stopped, I assumed my drones in the mission I was doing had killed everything.
Open up EVE (It was minimised) I see my pod floating in space and the remenants of my ship being salvaged by a salvage thief.
I lost 4 mil from that arbitrator, but got 2 back because of insurance.

I'm the proud owner of a 900 mil Iteron 5.
I was tired & didn't feel like missioning, or probing and decided to gather crap from stations trying to make my number of asset locations shorter, had reordered the market ordering to nearest when looking for some ECII's. Didn't switch it back when I brought the Iteron V. The region had been seeded with heaps of scam orders and filled the market window. Being tired I just choose the closest one and ignored the warning that pops up ( I've been told there's a warning when the market order is way out of base price, but I dont remember it ever popping up ).
Needless to say, it was a couple hours till I realised, and had a wtf 5 minutes.
I just decided, it was my turn to loose isk, and didn't get shitty about it.
I still catch myself just clicking things and buying them in the market without checking the price closely.
Most people will read this thinking it's part of my post, when its actually my sig :P

Clone jumped to a clone in the same station, loosing a clone with +4s and 5% missile implants. At the time that was about 1.5 bil loss.
I also missed out on 3 t2 bpos because I was on holiday, though they were only ammo ones.
Not selling a t2 wcs for 2 bil, instead waiting till they could be invented and then loosing said wcsII, along with a domi web as my kestrel got suicide ganked in Jita.
Scanning a gate to find a big bubble camp then seconds later, warping to it because it was next on my autopilot. Lost a 300mil vaga and a low grade snake set. Then 3 hours later loosing another vaga (but not a clone) because I didn't warp out fast enough. I had, only days earlier, laughed at some guy from Outbreak for loosing 2 vagas in a day. Welp
Shouting a number of repeated ethnic slurs to members of said race at a goonfleet meet (they didn't play eve).
Overestimating my structure tanking ability and loosing the only combat bs I've ever lost.

Some guy asked for 100K isk to get a new frigate and as I was loaded I sent it, By mistake I put in 1 too many 0s and sent 100M. As expected I never heard back from him lol.
I dont feel bad that he stopped talking to me, I only hope he spent the ISK on something usfull.

Fit one character with a Phoon for PvE.
Fit another character with an Exequror to support him.
Went to mission, started remote repping with Exequror.
Remote repping too slow, plenty of cap left on Exequror, so thought I'd Nos some cap from it for the Phoon.
Realise too late the characters aren't in the same corp.
CONCORD blows up Phoon for aggressing in hisec.
Then CONCORD blows up Eequror for assisting a criminal in hisec.

I have not even been here for a year and I can not count how many stupid things I have done
If I had to pick one, I would say sitting on a gate in 0.0 trying to pop some AAA pods when I new that there were 2 AAA scouts in the system I had just left. I missed two pods and a few seconds later one scout jumped into the system and I approached then another jumped in and I tried to align even though I was trying to align and cloak. Saw my pod a few seconds later. Well at least I know how to get my pod out of sight post ship popping.
Well, I guess that is the beautiful thing about online games, it does not matter quite as much...but still matters helluva a lot more in EVE then the other MMO I played.
