Originally by: whisk think some one missunderstood my intention with the thread, point is, there is no atraction for big corps and alliances into FW...
imho FW has proven to be a great place for any age pvper. Granted, there's not much of a reward to it except what I and others like myself love about Eve. Lots of targets and round the clock ops without Poses strong timers and being required to be online 16 hours a day.
There is also a lot of fun in not worrying about losing a station or system since most FW pilots operate from high sec bases. Cheap ships and young pilots work great, losses become less noticeable and the entertainment of combat in eve comes back into normal.
The last I'll say on it is that everyone was a noob. FW allows young players plenty of basic combat fundamentals to become valuable pilots in game. As always just my take.

Yes there are tons of noobs in FW...why wouldn't there be? It's a great place to learn, do stupid crap and get a quick fight. The last two nights I've had my alt in a group of 5 hulks hunting Amarr frigs to see if we can a kill just for the hell of it.
I just can't nano the damn thing to move fast enough to catch anyone. |

FW is all right, but not amazing.
The main problem I think, is that with nothing on the line to lose, there's no motivation to commit to the field. People fly garbage, lose garbage, and have whatever loot they might have had immediately scooped by the constant neutral carrion birds that swarm every FW system. I think the very fact that people _don't_ care enough to ever bring capitals is the flaw.
It easily blobs into unspeakable levels of server clogging idiots on a pretty regular basis. Actual open FW fleets are horrific. But that's ok and to be expected really. I hope that more people who have never PVPed before, get an opportunity to do so, and at least it is a small step in that direction.
I think its great that it has given lowsec pirates someone to shoot at! Honestly, this has got to be the holy grail for lowsec pirates with balls. There's a ton of guys to shoot now. Sure, lowsec pirates that only shot haulers with groups of 10 guys before will hate it, but they were losers before and can be losers now. Why would that matter?
All in all, Faction Warfare gets a C+.
- Add the ability for alliances to participate. - Give an actual incentive to care. - Increase the ability to shoot enemy targets in empire.
And it would be better.

Oh yeah, and give dual loot rights to whoever blows a ship up.
If you loot the wreck of someone I killed, you bloody well ought to be flagged to *ME* as well.

yes yes and its fine, but is there any other point to FW? why not make it atractive for Big corps and alliances ( yea I know alliance cant join atm)
since big corps and alliances have done so much good to 0.0 warfare and all ....

Nope - infact a lot of the FW players are ones who are jaded by 0.0 having played there for years and are fed up of pos warfare and the like.
There are also a lot of noobs playing pvp for the first tiem, and some will go on to play in 0.0 having learned a fair few basics. |

Edited by: MirrorGod on 22/07/2008 11:57:26 I have no clue where everyone's getting the idea that FW is 100% nubbery, atleast not the Minnie militia. Pilots in my fleet tend to be competent and pretty intelligent when it comes to fitting and tactics. They get aggressive and play smart, and yeah, you'll see some stupid stuff happen, but I've seen stupider stuff happen in 0.0 alliances, such as the nightmare that was Fang Alliance.
Two sepearate occasions, they threw away carriers for stupid reasons, the second one losing a chimera to a nanogang in the alliances own bubble -- and then they called him brave for figthing.
I haven't seen that shit, but my guys have achieved some feets. I'll drop a few recent ones.
Successfully baiting and killing a BEE's faction fit fleet tempest. Killing a BEES damnation while it had carrier support (that is bumping it out of RR while dealing with figthers. Killing an interceptor with industrials. Killing station camping battleships (and faction battleships, command ships) by bait->close warp->overheat gang DPS'ing Dual Carrier kill on Atlas alliance. Daily organized ops for both plex'ing and all out skirmishes/fleet fights
Fact is, the minnie faction anyway knows what it's doing, and we might outnumber amarr, but I don't believe we blob - many times we're running 2 or more gangs and FC's communicate to converge on an enemy in alot of scenarios, but well I've been to Tama etc, I've seen real blobs.
So if I'm a noob because I don't roll in 0.0, then I'll be the grandmaster noob, because you can keep your POS's and your bubbles, I'm not interested.

If you don't like it you leave.
Some people don't like POS warefare. Some people don't want to worry about defending their own space every day. Some people just wana have fun and a casual bit of PvP when they wana. What's so wrong with that?
If you don't like it **** off, no one's asking you to stay....

I have been trying faction warfare for the last two weeks. There are a great deal of noobs but also some pretty good corps. The problem is the noobs are developing standard 06-08 player tactics... blob...blob...blob..
I would like there to be point to it other than taking some control bunkers in a bunch of random systems, I havent even bothered to attempt to take one.
Seriously it's amazing how many ships people think they need to remove 3 people in a roaming gang lol
