I would love that. Seriously awesome idea, Rachel.

Great idea, however I did see in the fanfest move that they want to put a maximum of players per station/area. To keep the lag in ambulation in check. I think it was 40 or 60 in one specific area.
I myself have another question. Since it's almost certain you can have your own cafT or disco, will it be possible to have your own DJ? And could that cafT/disco get a music-channel, so all of EVE could pick their favorite DJ? Or 'skill train' your disco to a music station or whatever? (Probably with a maximum of channels). So you could see your favorite DJ in action and have dance party's or whatever.

I'm wondering what the character creation is going to focus on. It is my general feeling that it will or should include stuff like shoulder width, muscle mass (to a point), torso to leg proportions, neck length and width, chest size (barrel chested or concave n' weak), arm length, and a bit of height adjustment. Some facial hair, chin type, and dimples I believe should also be included, not to mention the shape of someones muscles, as build varies in people. What always bugs me is the fact that in most games peoples builds are exactly the same with different faces. The women are as tall as the men (and therefore quite out of proportion), which is usually not so, and finally the fact that is mentioned in Snowcrash relating to the metaverse, it was the facial expressions and muscle movement that made the people seem real. This is interesting as it has finally come to the point that gmes are going to have to deal with this, and I want to personalize my character so it is an individual, not another clone with a tweaked face.

Edited by: Heyte on 16/09/2008 02:37:55 Personally, I think avatars should be allowed to /dance with a funny animation specific to each bloodline (c'mon!).
Of course, it could be that the avatar might only be able to dance in a disco room or perhaps have a time limit on how long they can dance for per hour (or both). If the avatar has continued to dance for a total of 3 minutes per hour (for each dance in between), then they might get an info message of 'no more /dance for joo!' or something humorous to that effect.
I invite everyone in here to speculate on the possible dance that would involve each bloodline. :D
Also: Smexy clothing and strip bars. xD

Edited by: D''Nurgle on 23/09/2008 14:31:45 I think with the ambulation coming all the PVP aspect in the game will die indeed. Nowadays it is so difficult to get a fight and with the ambulation, people will spend more time inside stations (not that they are not now) than outside. A week ago we passed true 6 0.0 regions, spend 3-4 hours wondering around only to find out single ratters, or 20 people docked and this is not the first time. Official request: CCP please keep PVP alive!!! I will speak only for myself, but I am finding myself less and less willing to log in due to the lack of targets.
Now lets all go and have a drink in the Serpentis night club remembering the old fun PVP days .

Ambulation will run on a seperate server and will not adversely affect the rest of the game.

People who don't want to PvP stay in stations anyway and they'll do exactly that when ambulation is released, remember that all it really is is a fancy form of being docked.

There's nothing CCP can do regarding this - your targets are not programmed rats, they're living sentient people like you are. Your desire to kill them is matched by their desire not to be killed by you, and the only way they'll come out freely is if you don't go anywhere near them. Sitting in a station chatting beats having to buy a new ship or give a pirate the satisfaction of having fun at their expense.
Pickings are less and less not because CCP has nerfed pirating in any way, it's because bears have learnt to be more vigilant, more careful, and can usually avoid pirates as long as their alert and watch local. That's what pirates tell noob bears after they've been killed, so why so upset that they're actually learning and managing to survive now? If pirates want good action, they should just go fight each other or wardec some corps willing to fight. Try not to bring such a huge numerical advantage and maybe some of the corps you dec will fight back. Of course, you risk losing the fight, but why else would the other side play?

Any (definite) answer yet regarding the possibility for people without premium gfx to get ambulation? Surely actual contant should be available to both iterations of the client? |

Not sure if they are planning to do both, but I could understand if they went premium client only... think of the duplication of art assets for something so huge (and new). They would basically be looking at double the work it took to bring out the premium client for trinity.
I'd have to wonder about the complications of character avatar creation that splits between two clients as well. A person creating an avatar on the classic client would be unsure how their premium client avatar would actually appear to others (to some degree at least).
Out of curiousity, anyone have any idea on the percentage of players using the premium client?

Pretty much the above. When Trinity was released, it was an update and expansion on all the ships, stations, etc that were in game at that time. Ambulation is all new content and given the visual quality that we're aiming for, I don't see how feasible having Classic content is.
Saying that, nothing is set in stone, but hopefully, once Fanfest has been and gone, and there are plenty of pictures Ambulation, you'll understand better what we're trying to achieve

maybe you could make it so we can run classic in space but still use ambulation?
I'm not saying let classic users use ambulation but in fact have seperate graphics settings for in station and out of station.
so I still PvP with classic but use pretty ambulation while docked?
