I'd settle for a way to 'nice -20' the overview and 'nice 19' the market/local etc. -- A guy walks into the psychiatrist wearing only clingfilm for shorts. The shrink says, "Well, I can clearly see you're nuts." |

There are two major issues with it:
1. UI customization will provide those using a good one a tactical advantage in gameplay that players running stock dont have. This is paticularly troublesome when the players are shooting each other, and someone wins because them have AWSOMEUI1000
2. It creates a culture of running 3rd party addons to eve that improve gameplay. The question will quickly arrise, is UI display of information X an exploit? Well, I can run Automation Y, I'm sure Z, which does just a bit more is fine... etc... etc... Currently its pretty clear cut (except that whole pork thing) that your not supposed to run something that interacts with the client or data stream, its black and white... Do you really want to start an endless fight over infinate shades of grey? ç¦ |

People with a crap PC lag out and lose in PvP
Should we ban good PCs that don't lag out?
Warfare IS information. Besides a UI can never make up for skill anyways. If you think the leettron5000 is going to win your battles for you you're an idiot. --Bird of Prey: Forum God

If in API realised call - showBlahBlah() - is it exploit?
About which type of automation u tallking?
Simple example: class Target { ShowShield(); ShowArmor(); ShowStructure(); ShowType(); ShowDistance(); ... }
and with this sort of UI and ability to slightly change how to EVE look - did i have advantage to other players? I wonna clear UI, without tons of windows to make simple operation or gain info i realy needed to make decission.

Which of course only gives back values if you actually locked a target, to prevent confusion.
Enabling custom UI's without any possibility of exploitation that doesn't exist right now, too is possible, but it's complex and needs careful design akin to a security scheme. This leads me to the conclusion that either
1) CCP game designers fail at game design 2) CCP managers fail at increasing product value and customer satisfaction 3) CCP coders fail at software design
Differences in overview settings are influencing battle outcomes right now, there's no need to talk like a female dog about that.
Personally, I really, really want a hotkey for approach and orbit, and be able to adjust orbit distance with hotkeys or a hotkey and the mousewheel.

Agree.
I know about Xaen epic thread, and about position in CCP for UI designer. Looks like ccp thinking to do somthing, but im didnt understand why so slow. For wat was needed FW, ambulation project? For what spread forces on things not realy needed right now and right here?
Something wrong in Icelandic kingdom.

Originally by: Vailence Asher and about position in CCP for UI designer.
Originally by: www.ccp.is The UI designer's primary role will be to visualize application process flows and create UI mockups based on project requirements, iterative and collaborative design discussions, usability testing, etc.
This basically translates to "draw flowcharts, fiddle around with photoshop and flash, argue about UI design with everybody and try to convince management to draw off further resources from the non-existant QA"
I could do the "design and implement an UI API, define limits of data propagation jointly with game design, implement an UI designer accessing this limited API and provide a standard interface" part of that, but sadly it's not even in the job description.

I'm not sure this is true. WoW has this sort of thing. Is it a problem there?

wow have this and is it improves the gameplay value. each player have a UI more useful for his type of play.
A miner shouldnt have the same UI as the combat oriented guy.
Better shortcut handling would be nice too. the RSA is almost sure if you loot a lot :/
