Hey, still pretty new here, and got ambitions for the (distant) future to fly a raven, just wondering what the important skills are to fly it well? I know battleship 4 or 5, and of course cruise missiles/torps goes without saying, but what other support skills are most important for this ship? Thanks!

When i was training an Alt for a perticular ship what i did was open up EFT create the fitting that I wanted to eventualy use and then use the right click->change effecting skill tool as a guide for a skill plan in evemon.
This way i was able to see which skills effected the ship and the mods, and plan the skills around that.

I have a related question. I know which skills are pertenant to the Raven but what level should they be, to be considered 'ready' to fly the mighty raven?

Most of e will do at lvl 4 or 3.
You will need to be able to use cruise missiles and have the drone interfacing skills tough. (so that is a few missile skills at 5 and drones at 5)

Heh I remember pre eft (or at least before I knew what eft was) just looking on the market at all the skills and deciding what to buy/train from there.

Remember that because of the rapidly increasing training times, taking a skill to level 3 takes about 1/25th as long as taking it to level 5, but you still get 60% of the benefit. Because of this ridiculously good tradeoff, there's very little reason to get absolutely every relevant skill to at least level 3 (if there were higher prerequisites, you'd have needed them anyway). And level 4 is obviously better, though level 3 in everything will probably be enough initially if you're careful with the missions, and then take your skills to 4 and the important ones to 5.
So what was said above, basically, I'm just qualifying how easy it is to get everything to 3 compared to 4 or 5.

Actually, training from 0 to level 3 takes exactly 1/32nd of the time needed to train from 0 to level 5.
So Gartel advise is all the more valid as he understated the ease of getting skills to level 3.

EVEMon won't tell you everything. There are additional supporting skills that are not strictly required but help with any ship setup.
Weapons Upgrades and Advanced Weapons Upgrades makes fitting weapons on ships and having room left for other components much easier.
Energy Management and Energy System Operation boost the size of your capacitor and the rate of recharge, giving you more cap to stay in the fight longer. Ravens need cap to run their shield tanks, these skills help a lot.
Spaceship Command and Evasive Maneuvering increase your agility in all ships, making them turn and align to warp faster. When you find yourself in trouble and you need to get away fast, a Battleship with no extra skills to boost it's agility is a slow beast.
I'm probably missing something. It never hurts to just open up EVEMon and browse the skill tree, reading the descriptions.
 I promise nothingÖ. --CCP Prism X |
