This isn't a which is better thread but a what am I missing thread. I know a lot of people like both ships. Currently I have been using a Drake for my Level 3 missioning. I trained up for a Hurricane for fun and tried some missions and I am having trouble with both damage and tank trying to complete even the most simple level 3's but my drake tears them up.
I know skills are a big factor in which ships perform better. I am pulling the "best" missioning fittings I can find on battleclinic for both ships and my Hurricane is vastly under-performing my Drake. Are there some specific things I am missing skill wise to make this happen or is the Drake just that much better?

Part of it is just going to be the difference in the weapon systems. When flying a turret boat you're going to want to fly in a way that you are able to track enemies with your guns in an optimal way for best damage. Looks like your shield skills are better than your armor skills (not sure how you're tanking your cane.)
And the drake is just really good. |

Just fly what you like. Either can do quite well if flown right. "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" |

Hey Siege, nice to find you here brother.
I run both. The Cane takes two things for missions, I have found; more management and better skills. I do better with it in missions with an arty fit. Run a MWD to keep you at optimum and it works very well. I like it now for L3's because it makes them more interactive than my drake (which can easily solo L4's).
I run the Cane with LSE's and an invul, if memory serves.
Message me in game and I will send you my fit. |

I enjoy the Drake a lot more since I am mostly a Full Caldari Pilot but that is soon changing since I am working on skills to get a bigger ship. =P
Though Hurricanes are very good Sleeper Site Clearer's in Wormholes just as well as Drakes, Tengus and etc. Since they have to Omni Shield Tank over Armor Tank in Wormholes. >.> I do like the design of the Hurricane; I hope you find out the problem to your fit on your Cane and kick some Lv3 Missions in the butt. |

Delucian, ill catch you in game at some point. I am focusing on skilling up caldari ships first so thw hurricane is just a side projects. I guess i was flying the cane like my drake, i am too new to know the difference on flying styles. Thank you for everyones input.
Also, regarding the gunnery skills. I have all of those listed to 3 and my drakes relative missile skills are at 3 and some at 2 so i figured the dmg output woulda be at least equal, but again that perhaps might be me trying to shoot the artillery like its a missile. |

The big difference between missile ships and turret ships is that missiles pretty much never miss. It doesn't matter what you're doing or where you're going in your Drake, if you launch a missile and your target is in range, it will hit it's target every time. The same is not true for turrets. This youtube video is very helpful in describing this difference:
