Hurray!
The afterburners will become useful again for pvp in some setups. I have wanted this for quite some time. Me so happy!

i guess you are referring to the latest dev blog and yes looks like if you¦re having a good frigate w/ afterburner you should be able to stay with high enough transversal to no be hit by most cruisers.

I honestly don't really understand the graphs.
Are they displaying unfitted ships with a single MWD and deviations in skills? And if so what makes the huge differences on say EASs and Inties?
Are they displaying ships fitted but without rigs - and if so - once again how can there be a huge marginal between max and standard deviation on some frigs but not on others? They should be somewhat similiar?
Seeing how the fastest ship portrayed - the intie, is still quite a bit faster than any other vessel it appears they somewhat bit their own tongue stating that hacs were faster in the paragraph above.
Anyone care to shred some light on it?

Edited by: Cpt Branko on 25/07/2008 11:52:07 I think the overall changes are *interesting*, although I'd still advocate for ABs with slightly more speed. At any rate, the only actual illogical thing which I can see is AFs still being marginally slower then frigates (and HACs being as fast as cruisers) but the difference isn't so huge anymore.
I'll bite, it might be fun for small ship pilots as the scrambler kills off MWD.
+1 for webifier changes!

Yes, unfitted ships with T2 MWD, deviation in ships (some ships in a given class are faster, some are slower). Skills appear to be all L5.

Inties were always faster then EAFs, they're actually boosting the speed of 'slower' EAFs judging by the graph while leaving higher-speed EAFs the same.

No.

Oh, they were flat out lying.
Unpimped interceptors were slower then pimped HACs. Pimped interceptors were always faster then pimped HACs.
Also, LOL@including 'overloaded speed' in the discussion, yeah, big speed boost for 4 cycles before all your midslots die. Overloading has nothing to do with the speed discussions!

Edited by: Kano Sekor on 25/07/2008 11:55:22 The only bad thing as i see is that my Thorax fit got a bit nerfed i used to mwd in to point blank range and blast away i guess now if i mwd in i will get scrambled and my mwd will turn off but i guess ill boat in to about 3-4 km away so ill score hits but if the targeted ship has afterburners he will outrun me even if webbed. And fitting afterburner on the thorax will eat up the mwd bonus, i am perplexed and confused am i.... supposed to fit ... rails ?! eeew /me goes wash tongue. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thats the purpose of fitting MWD on Blaster boat...nothing more...get in range...gank the shit of of them...*boom*.
Your opponent has to get a scrambler to disrupt your MWD, otherwise you can keep distance. He isnt THAT much faster with afterburner..you still can chase him with standard cruiser speed (about half speed of your target). should give you enough seconds to kill him. Thats why Deimos e.g. got the Falloff Bonus -> more range.
Its difficult to decide how this will be on TQ...we will adapt sooner or later and new tactics will be worked out. I have faith the devs won't gimp the whole blasterboat-class.

Ok so the close range blaster boats will not have it as easy to get in range on all ships anymore, but not every ship fits a scrambler. As i understood it the disruptors will not shut down your mwd and most ships with a scrambler are close range anyway, right?
The webber change is interesting but will mostly change solo and small group pvp. Might get a little more tactical fights since you actually can move after this and that's good to prevent "f1-fx and wait".
The m for mandatory in mwd is up for a change eh?

I expect this 5% less penalty to max capacitor for MicroWarpdrive usage per level to be changed to 5% running time or something in that idea

Didn't expect changes to be that extreme... can't wait to see that on sisi
Anyway, AFs getting more speed can only be a good thing, I'm really looking forward to that one. With that scrambler change I could imagine my wolf will be a nice toy in pvp.
HAC speed figures might turn out interesting, at least I hope for my vaga to get more of an edge compared to the other fast HACs with permarunning setups. On the other hand, it might kill speedtanking for some of them unless hilarious amounts of isk are involved.
Gallente Recon pilots are probably crying tears of joy now, might see the comeback of the lachesis/arazu as a solopwnmobile and tackler of doom.
On a side note, I wonder what the whinesquad will choose as their next target, and if minmatar get something in return for these across-the-board changes that affect them most (TC affecting falloff please? or moar basespeed?).

If it wasnt the fact that half of eve is caldari i whould say they whould whine on ecm namely falcons and etc. but since most are caldari i guess they will just whine on drones instead.

Edited by: Snow Banshee on 25/07/2008 13:00:54 very nice for smaller ships, but what will happens on blastertrons and hype ( and generally on all heavy ships that use close range weapons?). MWD will suck, those ships will have really hard life to get in range ( any scrample will make you sit there ), and if this is not enough also the webber effectiveness will be reduced ( from 90% to 60% ).
same things also for minnie ships & antocannos ( mut will much less effect due to better base speed and better fallof range ). Pulses are not so close, so they will be still good.
Sincerelly i hope CCP will double check the effect of thocse cnahges, because i fear the effects on gallente ..

Use tackling ships in gang and "warp to 0" command soloing megathrons will feel the nerf though.

No you can't. You can only have one speed module at a time it says, or something like it. Was ages ago they nerfed that.
edit Unless they managed to nerf the nerf since but I doubt it

Do keep in mind that warp scramble range is very much within bs blaster range.
As for the changes overall, they seem alright and fairly well thought out but it would be nice if MWD speeds and AB speeds weren't quite so far apart.
The web and warp scrambler changes sound interesting but the usefulness will have to be evaluated with time--it doesn't sound like they're changing the range so it'll still be shorter ranged than a web and its too short ranged to really catch people at a gate so you'll sill probably want a disruptor for that. We'll just have to see.

I'm amazed.
I agree with Branco, they should boost the general AB speed to make them even more viable. I was very disillusioned until they mentioned the web nerf and then I stopped holding my breath. FINALLY. I like to have the option to still play the game after someone webs me, which in 7/10 will not happen - it's like they said, in case of such events you just have to pray your tank/gank is stronger than your opponent(s).
HUGE workload for CCP to make this one all right, but it can be done. I believe they are reasoning along the right lines here.
btw, hahahahah @ huggin/rapier

All blasterboats get their MWD cap use reduction changed to AB speed boost? It sounds simple enough?
And, if you are not fighting a Gal Recon you will get to 7-10 km off target and glide the rest and web him?

this is where the hyperion finally will be more sueful as a blastership then the megathron - its 5th medslot will be either a warpscrambler to disable the enemies mwd, or a afterburner to go after yours is disabled.

I very much doubt Gallente Blasterboats will suffer that much from this if it ever sees the live server. Anything disrupting you will be webbed and within either optimal or half decent falloff and some major dronelove. This would be a HUGE boost for the gallente recons though if it ever sees the light of day IMO.
