So, I while I was missioning.. I thought of something. When I get the money I want a pimped out Navy Apoc. But then I noticed the Abaddon wasn't so bad itself for missioning. Plus it costs a fourth of the price of a Navy Apoc. Which one would be better for missioning?
Navy Apoc - Pros - More agile than the Abaddon, with less cap usage from lasers and an optimal range bonus. 8 Lows. - Cons - No damage bonus. Slightly difficult to fit. No resistance bonus. (meh)
Abaddon - Pros - Nice damage bonus. Nice resistance bonus. Pretty easy to fit. 7 lows. Cheaper than a Navy Apoc (400mil or so vs. 130-150mil ish) - Cons - Pretty slow, and not very agile (duh). Emm.. Uhh. I don't think I have anything else for cons XD
Going to use tech 2 tachyons, most likely. With a dual rep tank.
All I am wondering is if a Navy Apoc is worth the 400 mil (whatever price it is) for missions over the Abaddon.

The Navy Apoc is going to be much, much more cap stable also (Didn't it retain its 25% cap from the old ship bonus?).

It did.
Interestingly enough, the Impoc still has the old Apocalypse bonuses.
Also t2 megapulse may be a better choice for missions - there are a lot of things that come to within 20km and AN MF pulse lasers will tear those a new one, and you don't really need all of the range that tachs give you. 45km scorch on an abaddon is fine, 60km on an apoc is great.
Also the navypoc needs about 5 fewer cap mods than the abaddon which means you can fit cool things like AB, sensor boosters, locus rigs, whatever. __________________________________

a navy apoc with scorch will hit out to 70km tho, I have not used an abaddon for lvl 4's but I do use a navypoc for it and its pretty efficient as is a regular apoc.

Cap stability should not be an issue when you can tank a shit load of dps using specific hardeners. In lvl4 missions, the more dps the better because that is indirectly your tank. __________ \(^.^)/ |

Abaddon imo, it is just better. Maybe it does have smaller cap but it is pretty easy get almost cap stable(it is enough if cap last more than 6-8min). But if you choose abaddon don't try fit it with two reppers Why is abaddon better than nave apoc? Well it can do more damage and still wield enough tank for level 4 missions. So more damage means that you do missions faster than using apoc...

Hmm the 60km megapulse pwnage sounds awesome.
Scorch ftw.
So far my vote goes to the Navy Apoc.
I never even thought of the optimal range bonus + Megapulse.

If you don't need the range, Abbadon > Navy Apoc in nearly every case. An armor resist bonus and a damage bonus is just something you don't pass up.
As for cap stability, unless you are somebody that needs to have their tank perma-run, you should have no troubles at all. Control aggro and the majority of the time, you will be melting NPCs before they can imagine testing your tank. __________________________________________________

pulsenavypoc if you have "low" skills or do not want to scorch pulseabaddon if you want to scorch
beams... meh, save them for paladin/nightmare
navypoc can use just multi/gamma most of the time if you range rig it with one tracking comp.

I'd say it's all about if you want to own a Navy Apocalypse.
If you don't, and want to make the iskies for something else, just use an abaddon. it gets the job done on any mission really.
I use a beambaddon(love the name ), but wouldn't fit tachyons as they just eat too much. Personal preference. Beams for big ones, drones for small ones. 5xmediums and 5xsmall take out any "hull-huggers" out there.
On some missions i fit two pulses just for faster results, people seemto forget the 50/50 fitting for 8 guns sometimes.

I use an abaddon and it works really well for me.
It has a very strong tank (I use 2 specific hardeners and a TS LAR) and excellent damage. Dual rep is certainly far too much.
I also found that cap isn't really a big problem. I can fire my guns indefinitely (8 x meta 4 tachyons + AN multi), or I can run the LAR indefinitely but not both. You will not run into a situation where you will need to do both for longer than a minute.
As for T2 tachyons, I would advise against it. I need one T2 RCU to fit best named tachyons, T2/faction would require one more low slot, taking out a heat sink. Or a rig slot. If you want T2 tachyons, I'd say go with a Paladin or a Nightmare.
If you have T2 pulses, the Navy Apoc seems like an excellent ship, but again Paladin/Nightmare are both superior.
