I've been having lots of trouble with drones holding hands lately. I don't recall having that much problems with it before, but I'd like to know if this is a known issue and if anybody has the same experience.
The problem usually comes to light when I do missions with my domi with heavy drones (usually Wasp II's) and it looks to me as if only four routes are used for drones with the problem appearing while there are five flying around. Two of the five drones will often fly the exact same route, constantly interfering with each other resulting in very slow movement of both of them.
This I can "fix" often by selecting only one of the two drones that are interfering with each other and giving him another command, like "return and orbit" after which they let go of each other and I can send it back to attack a target, however it only fixes it for a short time and I often have to "seperate" two of the drones several times in a mission.
This issue is very irritating and I wonder if anybody else is aware of this?

Command the drones. Tell them to stop being in love whilst on the job. They can do that in the bay.
I just see it as a bit of rogue drone behavior. Especially after a few drone missions. Damn drones are just too impressionable by their Alvi counterparts.

Its an incest problem, drones are origionally from Texas... To fix you require a fire extinguisher... point at incest infected drones, apply 50% of extinguiser... if not fixed continue until resolved... ________________ REVIVAL

Edited by: freek on 31/07/2008 10:52:39 Since they made the drone bays smaller this is a common problem, all those drones crammed in to such a small area they are developing relationship's, it's also a well know common problem that if one of the loved up drones dies the partner(s) will often sit in space and not respond to any commands given or self destruct/suicide as they find it hard to deal with the loss of the loved one.
The solution is to remove your drones from the drone bay when you dock to your items hanger where there is more space and they don't then start these relationship's.

It has something to do with the Drone Spawns.
I think the Rogue Drones are uploading parts of their KI into your Drones whenever they come close to your ship and your drones.
Then voila, one day your drones develop their own will and start attacking your ship. A Dominix eaten alive by it's own Heavy Drones is not a pretty sight, I tell you.
The only known way to resolve this is, to travel to the nearest ship hangar and repackage the soon-to-be-rogue-drone. This will reboot the KI and solve your problem.

So it's a problem that has long been around, has been reported and complained about millions of times and it affects lots of people at the same time. Good... Because that means I can look forward to the problem being fixed SOON(tm).
Thanx for any usefull input
ps... if only those darn things would get to third base, I wouldn't have to keep buying them when they get themselves blown up while slowly kreeping to the comforts of my drone bay!

Drones are horny. They're a lot like teenagers, only worse. The only thing you can do is shoot one of them. That usually solves the problem. Your wallet may disagree.

Just use Amarr drones. They have the 'Chastity' RCP* Chip installed that keeps them from developing close physical relationships. If you get older models with the 'Celibacy' RCP Chip you should avoid mixing heavy and small drones though.
Overall the Dogma line of AI behavior control modules is quite nifty. Not such liberal and arbitrary junk that the Gallente want to sell you. We all know where that lead to, the Rogue Drones are an annoyance all over the cluster.

I rather shoot the teenager, the drone could be more useful when it decides to stop holding hands

You've revealed that you're an Eve noob. Vet players know that the only good drone is an obedient drone. And that requires some tough love.

I've noticed an increase in this occurrence over the past 3 days. Before that it has been good going.

It's bad enough that they hold hands and cruise around like they're on some kind of pleasure cruise, but they occasionally refuse to go in the right direction either. A couple of times I've had two drones stuck together while I'm trying to return them to drone bay, and they just wobble around a little and end up not really moving anywhere, just sitting there facing slightly away from my ship.
If they would do something useful with their time like multiplying and making baby Ogres then i'd be alright with it. Otherwise I don't want to see them bumping uglies anymore.

Problem used to be much worse, then went away entirely, now happens again a little.
Just pick one and tell it to orbit, then order it to attack again. That will break the link.
