I was warping to the mission area for the storyline mission Covering Your Tracks in Haatomo in my CNR when I hit a massive-lag wall, and when my screen unfroze i was staring at my wreck. I would just like to know the odds of getting my ship back because I wasn't even able to defend myself. Any help would be appreciated.

Just file a petition. Nobody can give you accurate odds. Sounds like you might have a case.

PS make sure to activate hardeners before you warp. Shield/armour reps as well if you're in a laggy place.

Best you can do is file a thorough petition.
Remember that you'll only have the equipment replace that was actually destroyed with your ship. ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.83 (Updated 7/3) |

Depends on who you are. Are you a bobbit? Sorry about your loss, here's your ship back with fittings, and would you like a T2 bpo with that?
Not a bobbit?
Our logs show nothing.

Lag is always your fault because of your rubbish computer/pathetic internet connection etc.
It is never anything to do with the fact that Eve doesn't work and hasn't done for years.
Don't hold your breath about reimbursement.
That would be an admission by CCP that lag is THEIR fault.
Wouldn't want that now then would we?

I've filed for lag losses twice. They reimbursed me for 5 T2 hammerheads on my first petition and refused to replace my Myrmidon on my second petition.
If ship only cost a few million, I'd say you have a slight chance.

Edited by: Exlegion on 31/07/2008 15:33:45 Petition it and make sure you scoop up whatever survived, as that will DEFINITELY not be reimbursed. It happened to me once when I ran missions out of Motsu (long ago). I was fully reimbursed for my loss. Keep in mind that the insurance isk received will be deducted.
Good luck and fly safe.
Edit: By "reimburse" I mean your ship will magically appear in your hangar with all destroyed items re-fitted. You'll also get a roleplay-style eve-mail with some weird explanation about your ship being found a drift somewhere. It did put a smile on my face :).
Edit 2: Be patient. It will take long agonizing days before you get a response.

I have filed for lag losses and have been reimbursed on a couple of occasions, same as Exlegion. Scoop up your wreck, as your ship will come back without the drops. Your insurance will be deducted.
It does happen, so don't believe everything you read on the forums. Especially the eve-o forum.
- Ask nicely.
- Be polite.
- Tell the whole story, give as much detail as you can.
- Be respectful. Don't be upset if they say no.
- Be patient. It may take a few days.

Good lord it's incredible how feeble minded and bitter some people are. After all these years.
Anyway, you may have success, I do know people who have been hit with genuine lag and got their stuff back, it's just rare and impossible to predict. Be polite in your petition and be polite when they turn you down. I'd say maybe a 5% chance you will get a successful result.
I've never had one though.

If it was a different ship, I would not have honestly minded losing it to lag. However, since it IS a 400mil isk ship, i feel that I am just in pursuing reimbursement.

Lag isn't justification according to CCP, period. If you can prove that a game bug caused it, then you might have a chance. Don't fly what you can't afford to lose. Oh, and if you were flying in Dodixie/Motsu you deserve it,
That said, it's worth a shot.

The main reasons I avoid cap boosting-dependent mission-running setups like the plague. Start your tank before warping in, and if you go link dead or lag out simply go get a sandwich or a beer, then come back and finish your mission.

Sorry, logs show nothing.
You laugh now, just you wait, it's what all the GM's will say, simply because the logging tools don't capture data for most of the issues we are encountering due to lag and desync.

They will always give you the "our logs don't show" crap. If logs don't show, then they need to MAKE logs shot this stuff. I hear about soo many unfortunate situations where it is MOST DEFINITELY not the players fault, however the client. __________ \(^.^)/ |

Same thing happened to me. I had just barely fitted my brand new Zealot and was going to try it out on a lvl 4 mission. Warped in, LAG, eventually my screen loaded and I saw my wreck.
