I've been thinking about this for a long time and I wanted to post a "wish list" of things I'd like to see in EVE. This includes bug fixes, improvements and concepts which have yet to be done. I'll separate them into categories.
User Interface
The UI has been bugged for some time now. Windows that are commonly opened closed a lot (wrecks, cargohold etc.) when they're anchored to one another go ballistic if you open them "out of order". I'd like to see this fixed.
When pinning items, the window goes totally transparent. I would like to see a pinned transparency value in the settings window.
The overview is still very messed up. Probes still don't show up on overview even after being mentioned numerous times over the last year that I've been on. PLEASE add probes to the overview.
Exploration
I love exploration. I really like finding things others don't by just floating around. But there are a few things I'd like to see changed concerning exploration and ship hunting.
Drones have way too high a readout, tens or hundreds of times stronger than the ship running them. This puts virtually every Gallente pilot and all pilots running drones at a huge disadvantage when missioning or mining secret belts. Drones signatures need to be reduced (when associated with a pilot, abandoned drones I can understand) significantly to be harder to find than the ships flying them.
Add the deadspace curtain back to gravimetric sites. When I find one people just scan my hulk out within minutes of going into the system after I've spent upwards of a few days hunting it down the old fashioned way. You've added the MWD concept in deadspace with FW, so I don't see the curtain while still being able to warp an issue anymore.
Finally, match up the range of the probe types (recon and scan)to match distances and correlate the scan strength to match. It is far easier to scan ships than it is sites and because currently one is ALWAYS within 4 AUs of a planet. It's too easy for recon probe users to hunt down scan probe users.
Assault Ships
I have two propositions for the Assault Frigate and HAC. It is currently the only tech II ship set that has no role bonus.
I learned sometime ago that AFs and HACs were designed as Escort ships, not assault ships. I played with the idea for a while and decided that to maintain the escort ship role, a new device exclusive to them should be added. It's rough, but the idea is there.
Remote Warp Stabilizer Slot: High CPU: 5000, Powergrid 1 Cap Cost: 20, cycle 10 seconds Range: 20km, Accuracy Falloff: 1m Increases the Warp Strength of Targeted Ship by 1. Only one can be fitted on a ship. 99% reduction in CPU usage for Assault Frigates and Heavy Assault Ships. Note: The Remote Warp Stabilizer counters the effect of Warp Disruption Spheres.
This item would bring a balance to a very lopsided gatecamp and the concept isn't beyond the capability of the engine and would fit the development of the game. With high-sec suicide ganks of freighters on the rise, the people should have the ability to try to help themselves.
My other idea is to continue on the path of the Assault Ship and create an afterburner (NOT a MWD) that reduces the effectiveness of webifiers by 100%. This would give a much needed boost to the effectiveness of AFs which can be implemented later with being able to target turrets on larger ships and take them out.
Both are very useful in a PvP/fleet op environment and would put the AF in a role OTHER than ganking, which is all they seem to be used for nowadays.
Oh and reduce the bloody weight on AFs. +90% weight is stupidly high considering it's the only ship type in the game to have that drastic of a weight increase for the same gain in armor/shield/hull as say an interceptor, which has zero weight increase. Assault Frigates won't be used as heavy interceptors. There's too much of a cap issue that can't be resolved on that ship. +50% is more than sufficient.

Part 2:
I know this is lengthy, I apologize.
Defender Missiles
I'm sure this one is a thorn in a lot of people's sides. Pick up defender missiles only to find that when you fit two and launch they both go after the closest target or don't hit targets and they still hit you etc. I've thought of a potential solution.
Change the Defender Missiles skill to "Countermeasures" skill. Same skill base, but a different effect. Instead of a missile chasing you down, you launch a countermeasure (like you see in submarine movies) that "confuse" the missile, potentially making it detonate early. The countermeasures should also have another effect, especially for larger ships.
The countermeasures should effectively create a small tracking disruption on guns AND drones, making you harder to hit. It is, afterall a bunch of chaff designed to mess with targeting. I think this would bring an otherwise useless skill back into mainstream for potential options on slower or larger ships without a huge investment in a skill.
Ice Mining
I'm not going to make friends on this one, but I think this is necessary given the current environment of ice mining.
The system I'm thinking of is Tolle, where every time I need to mine blue ice, I just run to, only to find 70+ BOTS (yes, they're bots, no one really names their character aoasydfiun) constantly mining ice, their shield boosters running perpetually. I want all the high sec belts removed and that comet concept implemented sooner than later. Ice mining is insanely dull, but I'd rather buy ice from a known player than a known bot, which I can't do because I don't know who I'm buying from until after I buy it.
The Market
I'd like to see a minimum buy number on sell orders on the market. This one has to be implemented AFTER the new mining patch, though, again, because I don't like to buy from bots. Essentially if I'm selling 150,000 antimatter rounds, I don't like my wallet flashing because someone buys one from me to find out who they're buying from only to undercut me (which I've seen done) a few minutes later. A minimum buy order would do two things. 1) it would allow for discounted purchases on larger orders publicly. (If you buy 1000 minimum from me, they're 7 isk each instead of 8 isk each). 2) It would mitigate the undercutting that's going on to an extent by allowing people who sell at a lower price demand a minimum quantity and thus getting their money's worth. It would also have a side effect of "I'm selling ALL my stuff at the lowest price, but you have to buy all of it at once," which people wouldn't touch. In a nutshell, I think it would add some depth to the market that's currently not there.
I'll end it here. I've practically written a book.
Thanks for reading

The remote warp core stab is a really really good idea, it would make 'escorting' ships a possibilty. But make them so only escort ships can fit them, otherwise we'll have a whole issue with blobs and whutnot...

More NPC's to make the universe seem "alive"
More cosmos-like Warp-to-a-planet-and-find-a-base content, sure theres exploration but it's to random, i'd like to see somone actually put 6-7min into a few systems to give them some sort of a purpose
Highsec LVL5's, potentialy with slightly lower rewards, to offer people who don't have time to bring 6 guys worth of armed escort to run a semi-challenging mission |

I wish that the difference between high-sec and low-sec wasn't so dramatic and imposing. Like, allowing frigates to fight in .6 space, cruisers in .5, and down and down. Why the sudden drop off? Of course new players can't get into PvP, if their first encounter is always two BS's camping a .4 gate.
I also wish that there was more roleplay and NPC elements to being a pirate. All you got to make money is to go into 0.0, or kill players in low-sec. Why not give players the ability to work for pirate agents in low-sec, and kill 'good' NPC's like the rest kill rats?
I wish for ambulation. Yeah, it's coming.
I wish for more planet interactions for 0.0 alliances. Populations for them to grow and cultivate, but also the need to protect and keep secure. Hell, more meta-game for 0.0 in general.
I wish for more unknowns and mystery. Systems not on the map. Ancient sites and junk. More Jove sightings and interactions. Maybe having one uncloak near a gate now and then.
I wish for more versatility. Ships using different skins, with different bonuses, some of them barely different from what we have, some not. More ships, but I'm not a big fan of new ship classes. The ships we have now don't always fit into a class, because of their practical use and application.

I want, among other things (some of which were mentioned by the OP), the following:
Interior Complexes Asteroids, station ruins, drone hives, and other space debris that you can fly inside of. You would be unable to enter warp once inside. You would also be unable to see enemies on the overview unless you were in the same room of the complex as them, meaning that as you steer your ship around winding corridors or caverns you will encounter many nasty surprises (you would also not be able to shoot through the walls.) At some point (or several points) in the complex you might find something valuable, like a commander spawn or some high-end ore, or maybe just some object that you can destroy and loot... or maybe you'll find nothing. Some complexes would have multiple entrances or exits. Some of these complexes would be scannable and despawn after a time, although there could be some large, multi-entranced static complexes with numerous winding passages that don't all necessarily connect to each other. These would also be great places to hide from human enemies, although once you go in you're potentially trapped if they find you and corner you. Of course, tactical environments would have to be introduced for these complexes to actually work as intended. On that note...
Tactical Environments and Friendly Fire Not only would this make disorganized blobbing dangerous, it would also make solo or small group combat more interesting as your opponents attempt to duck and weave between asteroids or other ships. Some major issues that would need to be addressed with this are:
Griefing: one person positions themself on one side of someone in High Sec, and a corp mate positions themself on the other side. Then they fire at each other, hitting the neutral in the middle.
Exploiting: some people might find it funny to place themselves in the line of fire between a neutral and what that neutral is shooting at. Clearly aggression mechanics and CONCORD would have to be tweaked to deal with this sort of thing. I guess you could have ship guns just stop firing if a neutral comes into the line of fire in High Sec, which should prevent CONCORD from having to come out due to that person being attacked, but then you'd have people disrupting others by sitting in front of them with the intent of turning the person's guns off (you know, because they're jerks.) The only real way to limit this would be to class it as an exploit. I Low Sec guns would not turn off regardless of what came into their line of fire. Nor would they turn off in any sec level if a person's own corp mates pass into the line of fire.
Lag: If calculating where rounds are supposed to impact versus where they actually are impacting took more processing power than the current combat system, things could get laggier with fewer people on a grid than would happen with the current system. Of course, if friendly fire is a concern then it would seem less likely that massive fleets would want to engage each other. People would hopefully limit their fights to numbers small enough that would keep lag manageable, since ship placement and organization within a fleet would suddenly become very important.
Siege Gunships These are something that I once proposed in someone's "ship wishlist" thread. Without getting into too much detail, Siege Gunships carry two capital weapons and a siege module that grants fewer bonuses than the standard type. Only two mid and two low slots and very limited CPU/Grid, but a fair base HP. These ships have crappy warping power (100% cap use to go a scant 1 million km) and cannot use stargates. They can be carried and deployed however by Freighters, Carriers, Moms, and Titans (the Siege Gunship pilot will have to fly to the deployment site in another ship, eject, and board the Gunship from there.) These can be used in High Sec (anti-POS) and have an emergency jumpdrive that destroys the Gunship after the jump is made.

Exploration: You should be able to scan down new PLANETS. Then warp over and beam down with an away team (Minmatar in red shirt is common here) to meet the locals. Then - typically - you'd :
have a gladitorial arena battle with a big local male get shirt ripped cop off with a beautiful local female escape ??? PROFIT
Then onto the NEXT planet.

players can work for pirate corps in 0.0 space if they have standings same as normal high sec agents

- Bigger and shinier planets
- Better effects, visible missile launchers etc.
- More responsive client that isn't affected by graphics as much..
- Managable Crews that gives bonuses to your ship and "level up" the longer they are on your ship
- Better and more sound effects
- Local replaced by a better and more sophisticated scanner that doesn't give the advantage to neither hunter or prey
- More interesting and dynamic probing, scanning and exploration gameplay mechanics
- Better and more interesting system for mining that isn't just targeting a asteroid and activating miners
- Some more dynamics and depth added to combat

Yes that's great. The difference is I didn't just have a wish list for JUST new ideas, it included fixes and changes in the game, so it wouldn't exactly fit there, nor in the bugs forum.

I agree with all of the OP except for the market stuff and the remote warp core things for HACs. HACs are fine, AFs are not. AFs with something like this might be useful. Sig removed, inappropriate content. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |
