You realise that more explosion radius = BAD, right?

Edited by: Luzz Bightyear on 02/08/2008 13:28:58 It starts at 100, which is fairly low, and gets higher per level. Meaning that it becomes less effective against small targets; we don't want people going around insta-popping frigs with these you know.
And, the T1 variant will have an explosion velocity/radius of 100 (at first), so they'll be great against frigates and destroyers.
Once you have the skill at level 4-5, you'll be using them to hurt big targets like BC/BS, so you won't want to use them against frigates and such. It's a balancing thing too; people won't be able to win in PvP by spamming suicide drones because either the drones won't be able to catch them or the explosion radius will be too large to do any significant damage.
If you still want to use them against frigs you can use, if you first web them to hell, the civi variant. ------------------

neat idea. id like to see a slight difference though. higher move speed (not as high as missiles, but not so fast most ship can outrun it). chunky exp radius to begin with, and a lot more damage. very low explosion velocity.
net effect: anti-BC/BS weapon.
a domi or phoon filled with these could release swarms of them, i like it. i reckon though, it should be faction based damage:
minni: 67% exp damage 33%kinetic gallente: 67% therm 33% caldari: 67% kin 33%EM amarr: 67% EM 33% therm

Ive always thought drones should have a kamakazi option to them, if they cant be recalled in time to save, have them slam into the side of your target. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

The Vampire did it. Took out several targets, and then crashed itself to take out another. --- Don't take my ranting personally. I may just be arguing the topic, unless you're saying something stupid, and then I mean every word. "Players don't want Variety. They want THE BEST" |

How would these drones be different to missiles ?
The only things I see is that you can't hold as many of them, since they go in your drone bay.

A good point, given that the stats above don't allow for typical drone combat. They don't shoot for a while, and then crash... all they do is crash.
About the best usage for them is a drone sniper. Sensor Boosters with range scripts, and Drone Link Augmentors. So you can dispatch a wing of kamikaze drones 150km before they crash. Then you'd send another wing, and another, and another...
I was pointing out above, that the Vampire drone crashed itself when the ship was evading. But it still fought one heck of a fight before that.
But your everyday combat... these really wouldn't be useful.
Now... if we had drones that could headbutt an incoming missile! Like a Gallente version of Defenders. Missiles +/-

drones don't have a flight time. if i set my suicide drones on your inty, god save you if you slow down! - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window? |
