In my experience, no. Even at cut rates, in the current market I'm surprised to see more than 2 BPC/month sell. This is something that's long since passed being a reliable income source. Too many people thought of it as free and steady money for too long - the market is well over-produced on them. |

part of the reason why there IS a glass(heck lets be honest Stainless Steel) ceiling is in part due to the very real (and partly unintended to be blunt) mechanical restrictions on trades
your limmited on the number of buy orders/sell orders, and makeing alts just increases the micromanagment work you need almost exponentialy.
Most people have no access to even basic modern analitical tools ,forceing most people to manualy sort through marketplaces to spot good trades,
Unless they have access to modern analitical tools, not just most of the player made tools (and worse what tools most people use will force them to react to said trends after the fact) (sorry guys I know you try but your still limmited. to be fair, some of you are getting better at makeing good ones) and even then most of thoes player made tools tend to end up giveing everyone the EXACT SAME INFORMATION!
Hoever, even when you have access to said (actual not fan made and distributed tools), the size of the marketplace (both volume and distribution of sources never mind constant changes in what the player base is and what its doing, never mind patches and new content) means you need to know how AND WHY to constantly tweek the information.
If you price snipe on undervalued offers you often have to move items to diferent points in the marketplace to take advantage of thoes diferences. setting up standing long range buy orders only compounds the problem.
Defacto Forced diversification tends to have a double muting impact on your income, while it tends to negate the impact from your losses (haveing to sit on inventory forever or take a loss, unexpected changes due to a new flavor of the month fitting, or unexpected rioting/monument shooting/gankathon or what have you in Jita, random wardecs and ganks and so on) by the same token it also mutes the highs because thoes end up covering your losses.
(that and you never know when someone who bought a literal freigher load of Mercoxit way back when he/she had this idiot plan to corner the market with it will pop back into the game and dump it on the marketplace for whatever reason)(wants ISK, account was haxored, and so on) |

The premise is that one needs to be able to take that 1% (or better) each and every month, and spend it on something (div payouts, interest, fancy ships, exotic dancers).
Thus "Buy X, sit on it for Y months, then sell" are schemes that won't work under the above premise.
Sure they are. Run Y versions of the scheme staggered to start once per month. Once it's up and running, every month I am making the income to meet your challenge. |

Which however "collapses" into "Run X versions per month Y times" Staggering makes no real difference - the only exception being that by virtue of holding it for longer than one month, means the profit goes up - Which I at the top of my head can't see being possible (unless you got the monopoly on some item/resource - In which case you could do much better anyhow )
