It's deafening. If they could get that to run quieter it'd be a lot better ;\

With only 30 minutes of flight time and 10 US gallons per hour burn rate, it's very short range for a very high running cost.
With a 63MPh top speed and only a 5 gallon tank, that's a little over 30 miles between refuelling stops. That sort of rules out sales in the UK with our fuel prices as they are now, it works out at 1 UK Pound per mile
I am pretty sure they can vastly reduce the burn rate though with a little thought, a 2 litre engine need not burn fuel that fast. Also, why a 2 litre engine? It's only carrying a single passenger and only the fan speed is important to generate the lift. I'm sure a smaller engine would rotate the fans just as fast for far less fuel cost per hour. I'm sure the Japanese would soon make a 1 litre version with around 3 times the range and probably a lot faster too since they would not agree to FCC rules governing them any more than they went along with motor vehicle regulations with their 100mph+ 125cc motorcycles.

Edited by: ivar R''dhak on 04/08/2008 19:20:53 Yeah, but the explanation on their site covers this quite nicely.
The only one I heard of was the TrekAERO Springtail. But both make such a horrible racket. Though the Martin seems more stable. _ Mal-`Appears we got here just in a nick of time. What does that make us?¦ Zoe-¦Big damn heroes sir.¦ Mal-¦Aint we just.¦ |

I quite like the Dragonfly since it can take up to two people even though it was initially an unmanned vehicle... -- There's a simple difference between kinky and perverted. Kinky is using a feather to get her in the mood. Perverted is using the whole chicken. |

The fact that this seems to need 2 people running along side to be safe kinda limits its usability

Give it like 30 years. We'll be flying around like Boba Fett. Now i've finally got some use for the Mandalorian Armor Suit I made. ---------------------------------------- Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes.

TBH Boba did about 2 flights and one of them got him slammed into the side of like the only big metal thing around and then eaten. Jango was the real pro.

The first link I clicked on on that website tells me that they might be a little bit sensitive about that subject ------
