The Khanid Bookstore today presented the result of the previous month. The main figures are given below with the figures of the previous month in brackets. Sales Volume (pieces): 2503 (5881) Turnover (millions): 521 (947) Profit before taxes (millions): 89.5 (157.8) ASP (ISK): 208,547 (161,134) EPS (ISK) 89,444 (157,855)
The most striking feature of the past month is the defeat of the speculative buying that had been going in June in an attempt to undermine the goals of the Khanid Bookstore. Below graph clearly shows the amount of buying that went on in those last weeks of June and a return to normalcy after that. The attempt failed, as it had to fail, and as future attacks will fail as well. The only way to stop sales by the Bookstore is to offer all its books at an even lower price. But that will only result in achieving the real goal of the Bookstore, easily accessible and affordable education for all in Khanid Kingdom. Nevertheless, we have little doubt that it will be tried again.

Now books even cheaper! We are delighted to announce that the ongoing negotiations with the Khanid Kingdom authorities have -finally- led to a decrease in the tax rates for our corporation. This has made it possible for us to lower our profit margin (before taxes) from 20% to 15%, setting it at the level originally planned. We would like to thank the authorities of Khanid Kingdom for allowing us this tax benefit. We would also like to thank our staff for the major effort they had to put in, to change the prices on all our products during the past weekend, while remaining open for business.
Franchise opened in Parses We are even more delighted to announce that our long cherished wish for a second store has been realized. As of today a small store has been opened in Parses. While beginning with a limited collection to check the viability of a Bookstore in that location, we are full of confidence that this will prove to be a major step in the history of our corporation!
