I'm having a similar problem, when I chose to reinstall Eve. I download installers from different locations - official site, mirrors, etc. - I open the executable, it goes through the "verifying install" and then hits me with the following error message:
"The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete. This could be a result of a damaged disc, a failed download or a virus.
You may want to contact the author of this installer to obtain a copy.
It may be possible to skip this check using the /NCRC command line switch (NOT RECOMMENDED)."
Suffice to say my computer is completely clean and the hard disc just fine. Trying that switch gets it installing but when it gets to the following line: Extract: resDX9GallenteShips.stuff...63% I get a further error window: "Error decompressing data! Corrupted installer?"
This is most vexing.... |

Heh, this happened to me shortly after i reinstalled windows, spent 2 (full) days going over my system bit by bit and absolutely everything checked out so yes, the client is doing something wrong. Incidentally the installer is self-contained so you can use a cmd to bypass the check like it says, but it'll just die when installing.
Fortunately i got it working again after checking my system files which according to the check have become corrupt (SFC.EXE /SCANNOW cmd. , elevated priv.) but even more usual, it wont generate a log so idk what's corrupt and needs replaced. That said though eve installed afterwards and i'm not complaining, on the other hand it's been two days and still works, but i've had 2 blue screens in two days which for vista, says something bad.
Good thing i've been planning on a fresh install, pity i know this is going to come right back |

Whilst my problem was hopefully unique to me, I'd recommend doing some network testing of your connection just to be sure you're not getting intermittent problems. I had this and it turned out the Ethernet port on my motherboard was slowly breaking, corrupting data only occasionally, which included said installer because it's a long download. Changing to the spare one fixed it.
If it's purely the install, and you never get any issues with any other net-based systems (browser crashes, online games crashing) then it's less likely to be this. ___ My views may not represent those of my corporation or alliance, which is why I never get invited to those diplomatic parties... |
