Hey Guys,
I am trying to retrieve my API keys and when I log in and go to the API page (http://myeve.eve-online.com/api/default.asp) I get the following error...
Failed to generate new API key. Please try again.
(Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'pk_apiKeys'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.apiKeys'.)
Refreshing does not help.
Is the API key generation page down?

I don't have this problem, so I can't test this work around, but can those of you that have this problem still access your My Character page?
If you can, do any of the links work, such as XML Data, Wallet Journal, etc?
If they work you can recover your full api key from that URL. Just beware that link contains your full api key, not the limited one.

ok i got this to work threw spamming the living shit out of both the my character page and the evemon link.. I got my API key and userid from the link in the XTML option under my character screen, loaded it up into evemon and it worked.

Hi Devs
Is there an eta on the fix for this yet
I'm sure you guys are busy but it would be better if you couldgive an approximate idea of when this might be ready even if it's likely to be days or weeks at least it should limit the number of "are we there yet" type posts...just like this one

An estimated timeframe would be nice. I realize this doesnt directly affect gameplay, however it is quite an annoyance to a lot of players, not just the ones that use the forum. It also looks like a pretty simple SQL statement fix....

Guys if you get this error Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'pk_apiKeys'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.apiKeys'. keep refreshing the page (F5) and eventually the key will show... worked for me anyway.

I don't think it is a good idea to encourage people to hammer against an obviously broken database table. Depending on what the problem is, we might end up with a completely non-working API that way.

Hammering it won't do much but put a slight resource bump in their server. People have reported a lot of mixed responses from the api system with refresh. The quote below pretty much sums up a 3 page thread so far on this issue http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=840245

It is still not working for me. Is anyone else still having the issue as well?
I'm still having the same issue and error message.
Edit: Looks like refreshing the page and cache (hold down shift and click Reload button) about 20-30 times finally gave me a new api key. So I'm not having this issue anymore.
Edit2: Except it seems that the key it gives me doesn't validate correctly, I'm getting "Authentication Failure" in the API logs. Sigh, I suppose I'm having this issue after all.
Edit3: ..aaand now it works.. I'll shut up now :-)

We now have a fix for this and it has passed testing.
We are scheduling it's deployment today (hopefully) or tomorrow. This will result in about 1 hours downtime on the API as we deploy this fix.

Oh and please keep in mind that when you get a new API key you might have to wait a few minutes before it starts working in the API. Browser caching might also lie to you about authentication problems so try restarting your browser.
