Hahahaha It is more likely that the clueless hyperactive kiddies will leave who only can hop into a caracal and suicide some noobs. I can't see any loss there - actually eve will benefit from that. The vets will continue to pick their juicy fully faction or officer fitted mission runners and they will continue to gank the multi-billion freighters full of shiny stuff.

It's just the 14 free days CCP gave to every account inactive since April are almost up. 14th will be the absolute last day for the free time offer. Looks like retention wasn't as high as expected. Combine that with four or five people deciding to take a break due to massive recent (GTC pricing) and incoming (blaster ship nerf, roaming nerf, suicide nerf) game changes and there you go. Same thing happens to me with Anarchy Online. Funcom keeps giving me free months, I log in for 1 day, say hi to people, go 'yuck' at the scenery and gameplay and return here.

Real PvP'ers fight for the kills, not the "phat lewtz". ....even though the "lewtz" are pretty phat. We can call dropped loot a perk of the profession, but not a need. Good riddance to the Faux-Pirates.
