Back after red moon rising, a way was found of replacing the default font. There were 3 or 4 different font faces available from the guy who figured it out. I installed it according to his instructins and hey! presto! eve in verdana! I could actually read the screen and tell the difference between 6 G and & without having to break out the windows screen magnifier.
Unfortunately, this loophole was closed in the very next patch. Illegible screen fonts for the win!
Hmmmm, I wonder if the European Disabilities Rights Acts apply here.... I am going blind and it could be argued that CCP discriminates against the blind and partially sighted ;)
Anyhow, the long and short of it is: NO LEGIBLE FONT FOR JOO!

I also vote for a legible font, this one is making my eyes hurt from squinting to tell the difference between similar glyphs.
But has someone checked all the stuff-balls? It is bound to be in there... unless it is one of the standard Windows ones. The Macintosh bundle includes the Arial font, so it is used somewhere. But that is certainly not the one in the game. Or maybe I do have impaired sight?
And a bump if the OP just wanted it for a website or something... |

Edited by: Verite Rendition on 22/08/2008 11:47:34 The font is called evesansmm, it's a TrueType font that is unusually skinny. I'm not sure where in the STUFF archives it is, but it's rather easy to find; it's used in several killboards among other things. The specific instance I have is from an archive called eofont.rar ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

Anyone willing to sign a CSM petition to change the IG font to something legible like Verdana or Century Gothic? Can't stand this horrible chunky font :/ ____________________

Edited by: Ralf Smith on 24/08/2008 01:40:39 i like the eve font. maybe just the ability to change it to verdana or something? btw, to the person complaining about people's rights and stuff. Wouldn't it mean CCP were discriminating against blind and deaf people because they couldnt make it show up in brail or figure out a way to transfer soundwaves into deaf peoples heads?
Jesus christ, if you have eye problems, get a screen magnifier or change the text size. companies shouldnt have to adapt to the defects of us, the defected ones should adapt. (and i use the word defect with the utmost respect, disability sounds alot more demeaning so i choose not to use it)

Damn right! Why build elevators for people in wheelchairs if stairs are so much cheaper. Let them pimp their wheelchairs so they'll be able to go up and down! ;>
Now you can tell us how do you tell the difference betwee O an 0 ingame? That's capital letter Oh and a number zero. O_0 :)

Well, just the possibility of change would be good enough.
<rant> But a screen magnifier would just magnify the almost identical glyphs... If I study the O and 0 in game (in 16x magnification) the only difference I can find is that one pixel is shaded a bit diffrently. No difference in shape or size. So it doesn't matter much if you are blind or have zoom-sight you will still have a hard time noticing the difference. And O/0 isn't the only pair that is like that. Changable font! nao! </rant>
