A smiling redhead appears on screen, waving excitedly at everyone.
"I'm BACK! After a long break, that was desperately needed, I have returned from planetside to pilot and bake once again. Now, INAS is back in more capable, and more intelligent hands, I can turn back to paying more attention to my cake, and the eeds of all pilots for delectable treats!"
The girl giggles, still grinning ear to ear.
"So...as a first order of business, I need everyone willing, and looking to enjoy some of my baked goods, to send me recipes. Now, it can be cakes, cookies, brownies, pies, or any sort of pastry, but it must be a real, non-harmful, and easy to make recipe. That means no super rare ingredients, nothing that can hurt those who eat it, or anything of the sort. That is not to say, rarer ingredients and recipes will be ignored, they are just to be put on hold untill the bakery has settled and a steady flow of funds has been established."
She grins bigger and wiggles in her seat.
"So, with that said, for those who send a recipe, they will receive a pastry of that recipe, free of charge. So, the more ya send, the more ya get! BUT, they have to be different recipes. No sending the same one to me over and over again. That's cheating! So...get to it boys and girls, cuz if there is one thing I know, it's that everyne loves a good cake!"
She grins and waves as the screen goes black.

Cherry Pie
INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
* 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie * 4 tablespoons quick-cooking tapioca * 1/8 teaspoon salt * 1 cup white sugar * 4 cups pitted cherries * 1/4 teaspoon almond extract * 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract * 1 1/2 tablespoons butter
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C). Place bottom crust in piepan. Set top crust aside, covered. 2. In a large mixing bowl combine tapioca, salt, sugar, cherries and extracts. Let stand 15 minutes. Turn out into bottom crust and dot with butter. Cover with top crust, flute edges and cut vents in top. Place pie on a foil lined cookie sheet --- in case of drips! 3. Bake for 50 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown.

Ambi! Good to see you back in space and still working on the cake biz. I'm no cook though so no recipes from me sorry. If I happen to loot some I'll pass them on though.

Do cheesecakes and similar count? Even though they're not strictly baked goods?

Nice to see you back to handling oven racks Ambriel. You and INAS will always be welcome back to the Imperative regardless of how hot it gets in the kitchen.

Tree Cake
Also known as the "King of Cakes", traditionally baked on a spit (though the recipe has been modified for a springform, for simplicities sake), is a must have on the list of your available cakes. The name stems from the fact that - baked around a spit - each layer of the cake is divided from the next by a golden line, thus resembling the rings on a crosscut tree.
Ingredients:
2 sticks butter 3/4 cup sugar 8 eggs (separated) 2 tbsp rum grated lemon rind 1 pinch salt 1/3 cup minced almonds 1 cup plus 2 tbsp flour mixed with 1 cup plus 2 tbsp starch 1/2 cup apricot jam, melted almond paste, powdered sugar, or chocolate icing (optional)
Whip butter and sugar well until creamy. Gradually add egg yolks and the remaining ingredients to the butter-sugar mixture until a light, foamy batter forms. Beat egg whites until very stiff and stir gently into the batter.
Pour about 2 tablespoons batter (a thin covering) into a 8-1/2" springform pan greased with butter. On the uppermost oven rack, bake (or broil!) in a preheated oven at 450¦ F for 2 minutes or until golden brown. Watch carefully, this browning can take place very quickly. Repeat until all the batter is gone -- you should have about 14 to 16 layers.
When the cake is done, let it stand a few minutes before running a sharp knife along the sides of the pan. Remove the cake from the pan and glaze with melted apricot jam. Once the jam is set, you can add an additional glaze of thinned almond paste or immediately finish the cake with a thin icing made from powered sugar or the highest quality chocolate available.
If you have a spit to bake it on available, go for it!

Edited by: Myrhial Arkenath on 11/08/2008 07:46:03 Since you mentioned cookies, these are my favourite:
Chocolate chip cookies
List of ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons hot water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
- Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
