I'm skilling up for Siege Warfare Specialist and would like to check with you forum folks if I got the math right. The warfare link modules don't exactly say what they do except for the somewhat cryptic "-2% command bonus" in the attributes tab.
So, could someone check if my math is correct for the 2 different scenarios i have set up? I'm assuming all relevant skill level 5 for the sake of simplicity.
Ship: Drake or Nighthawk Module: Siege Warfare Link - Shield Harmonizing Hardwiring: Siege Warfare Mindlink
Per level of warfare link specialist: 3+3+3*2.5+3*2.5+3*2.5= 28.5% shield resist
Ship: Vulture Module: Siege Warfare Link - Shield Harmonizing Hardwiring: Siege Warfare Mindlink
Per level of warfare link specialist: 3*1.15+3*1.15+3*1.15*2.5+3*1.15*2.5+3*1.15*2.5= 32.8% shield resist
Is this correct?
Thanks!

Not exactly... The base is 2%, with seige warfare spec 5 you end up with 10% 2%* 500% = 10%
Then with Link warfare specilist 5 10% * 150% = 15%
Your base un modified maximum with the passive defense module would be 15%, add the implant 50% more. 15% * 150% = 22.5%
So with skills at 5 and the mindlink in you have a 22.5% mod to all equipment in that group.
Then take into account command ship 5 on a vulture 15% and you have a final total of 25.875% to all the shield link modules on a fully maxed out vulture.

Hmm, according to Siege Warfare Specialist description
"Advanced proficiency at siege warfare. Multiplies the effectiveness of siege warfare link modules by 100% per skill level after level 2 is trained."
the "command bonus -2%" is increased to -4% after level 2.
This means that you get a 2+2+4+4+4 = 16% bonus at level 5, not 10%, yes no?
A mindlink on top of that gives 50% more, i.e. 24% bonus.
A warfare module on a fleet command ship (CS lvl5) gives an additional boost by 15% from 24% to 27.6%.
What I did wrong in my first calculation is that I was a bit hasty and read the mindlink info "50% increase to siege warfare skill effectiveness" as applying to the warfare link specialist skill which it apparently doesn't.

...unless...
Command base bonus from a warfare module is 2%. Warfare link specialist lvl5 gives 50% boost. Mindlink gives another 50% boost. Warfare specialist lvl5 gives 300% boost.
So, 2*1.5*1.5*4 gives 18% bonus
For a fleet command ship (CS lvl5) multiply with 1.15 which gives 20.7%.
Is this correct?

Edited by: Kenji Kikuta on 14/08/2008 11:34:33 Seems I misunderstood the "100% effectiveness after level 2 is trained" part. Obviously the command bonus escalates from 2% to 4% at level 2 warfare specialist, to 6% at level 3 warfare specialist and so on up to 10% at level 5.
This means that max bonus from a fleet command ship with a gang module with all skills at level 5 becomes 2*5*1.5*1.5*1.15 = 25.875%. Not too shabby...
Thanks for help Balcura
