Dear dev! I would like to know your ideas on matari bs - if they are over\mid\underpowered, on how the speed related changes will affect them (taking in mind their previous strong\weak points), and if they will or not be changed in any way previously not mentioned - not in terms of speed (nerfed\boosted)? The cause of this post is to understand whether i can hope (and so will train further) matari bs or i will have to switch to mining. I will not switch to other races - this not a way of adaptation to upcoming changes. P.S. Please do not flood in this topic as it is designed for especially single purpose.

id say considering they pulled they build from the test server, that they are doing some in house balancing before they post the next build and dev blog. So keep your fingers crossed, there could be hope yet that your tempest could be useful.

sure... one can hope. but from experience; ccp only changes things one at a time and in one big swoop, changing dozens of factors for that one thing (and overdoing it). there were the laser buffs, the gallente&drone nerfs, the HP buff, for example. and then there was a weird thing called boost patch where most people expected to see AFs and the big transporters get some luvin. (heck, does anyone remember what that was all about without looking at the notes/relistening the live-blog?)

I've somewhat lot faith in ccp's ability to balance matari (I did have faith in them at one point)..... hopefully they will give us a balance soon. If they do however I don't want it to be some new thing that is completely seperate from what minmatar are for. I would rather see something like better ability for alpha strikes or skirmish fighting.

I do not question their ability to balance different races' specialties and weaknesses and putting them to concept. However, I do question their ability to bring the concept to life without totally ****ing up on the numbers.

Bot oh you are wrong nerfs are boosts, a 10% resistance drop is a dmg boost not a tank nerf, :D

Would be if it was uniform. But 10% base resistance drop is a 25% damage boost to ammar upon gallente/cldari and dammar. And a 33% damage boost for ammar upon minmatar.
So minmatar got nerfed compared to other races. ------------------------------------------------- If brute force doesn't solve your problem... you are not using enough

As a loving and caring matari bs pilot I fail to see their "problem". Lets see:
Typhoon ratting: 4 1200mm artillery 'scout' 4 Cruise missile launcher II or 'arbalest' 4 Cap recharger II 1 Reactor control II 2+2 Racial harderner II 1 LAR II 1 BCU II or Gyro II Rigs: missile or armor Range: 15km (minimum range to hit rat BC) - 70+ km (max lock range) Just use heavy drones on cruisers and you are fine with using arties.
Typhoon pvp gang: 4 Cruise missile launcher II 2 Heavy neut 2 L remote armor 1 100mn mwd II 1 Cap injector II 1 24km scram 1 Web II 1 Sensor enhancer II 1 of each kin, exp, therm II and 1 ean II 1 1600mm RT plate 1 Suitcase II Rigs: None Range: 0-80+ km non-tracking makes this the best RR-bs.

as for that setup.... compare it to some of the amarr bs's, mega, hyperion and rokh then look again. it has poor dps, range, tracking, and tank when compared to the other ships. eg it has range of 152(43) while hybrids have 184(30), and amarr bs's have 168(25)... we don't get a range bonus bs.

Ok, Im not sure what range Axe fights at but 140 is the best sniper range. So the evil "They" cant get a warp point on you. Sure, tracking and dps little low. But tempest also will not cap out in long engagements, uses less ammo then hybrids and have more dps then rokh.

I heard RK did very well against goons with all multispec fits and 140km sniping. IN reality 150km is too low. And in lag reload... oh wait I cant reload. Oh wait I got 10 ammo in a gun. Oh wait. Oh wait my DPS is shit.

Capless weapons mean you are imune to one kind of EWAR and can fit damage mod where others need cap mod. Also large ACs hitting npc frigs and pc cruisers is rather usefull feature even if it costs large chunk of raw DPS.
Now the question is wheather speed and sig radius on BS size vessels is really so large advantage and wheather projectiles being capless gives real advantage in PvP (it definitely does in PvE). Aswering that would be good start to get insight into how devs design matari.
Also there is possibility ships are balanced with non-ideal situations in mind. So ships and guns working - albeit poorly - in quite unfavorable situations can hamper their perfomance under ideal situations.

You mean aside from the fact that all 3 other races do more damage, have more range, and have more eHP (it's basically impossible to get a decently priced DD tanked minmatar BS sniper)?
That said I really like AC maels and nanophoons for smallgangs.

May As well Train Another Race Information will be available for testing soon but I have already surrendered. I am training Caldari Cruiser and Battlecruiser V and will roam around in Drakes.
Of course, with my 80km plus range and battleship standard passive tank, that will make for a vastly enjoyable engagement. But hey, that's adaptation for you.
As for racial balance, well, we don't need that. We want all small engagements to be the same.
Everyone fly's Caladari and for good reason; they get the best of bonuses - passive tanks, sniping, and short range damage PLUS the best eWAR. With the coming changes, even after they have been adjusted, you will not out run a missile launched from 200km away, so dry your eyes and fly Caldari.
You know it makes sense.

I've gone toe to toe with many a megathron and dominix with my tempest setups and its always a close flight and never a sure bet one way or the other. The phoon is versatile. It can pretty much do any tactic as long as you think it out well and use strategy when you actually fight with it. And I wouldn't give up any of the mael's abilities with the current possible nerf.
I have no complaints on any of the minmatar BS. Everyone is susceptible to the gank. And I won't share any of my setups. You fit tactically for what people are running with the current build. Use your imagination and ingenuity. The game has plenty of different modules that work perfectly with well thought out tactics.

uhhh...what?
U realise that no hostile ship can warp to you anyway at 150km.
If your argument is that u want to stay out of range if a ceptor tries to get a warp in for other ships then uhh..that fails too..It will just burn to 150km and get his mates to warp in 10km from you?!
Oh and uh, 140 also means u cant insta-warp to the gate (if your camping) or get mates to warp if in trounble to u for the same reason.
The only logical reason you may want to warp in at 140km is if ur fighting a pos or something in falloff and want to get better dps.. poudly annoying fc's since 2007

Its called alpha. Your not on the top of every kill. You just tend to be at the top of some and the bottom of the others. Try adding up all the damage each player deals for all the kills in the battle, and see how you rank.
I love my Mael for short range solo and small gang though

You just like spamming untrue stuff. The thing you speak of is only really valid for a Mega v Tempest comparison (and the Tempest is a inferior sniper to the Maelstorm) - let's look at the guns only (and mind you, the times to outdo Minmatar get only shorter as you start fitting damage mods).
No reloads:
8 rails on Hype: 1670 alpha, 250 DPS (241 with reloads) 8 1400mms on Maelstorm: 2933 alpha, 237 DPS (219 with reloads) 8 tachs on a Abbadon: 2732 alpha, 313 DPS
Time for Hype to outdo Maelstorm: 40 seconds Time for Abbadon to outdo Maelstorm: 26 seconds
Lol, what? So, wait, while there's a fight going on, Minmatar ships should just bugger off after 40 seconds? Are you just trolling?
We won't even mention what happens when you're shooting into falloff and your alpha+DPS is lost because you're trying to fight at sniper range 
Also: Mega/Tempest/Apoc comparison. 6 rails on mega: 1461 alpha, 219 DPS (211 with reloading) 6 1400mm on tempest: 2749 alpha, 222 DPS (206 with reloading) 250 DPS, 2186 alpha (requires RCUs to fit, but requires 0 tracking/range mods to fight at sniper range)
Time for Mega to outdo Tempest: till reload. Time for Apoc to outdo Tempest: 26 seconds
I'm sorry, but your suggestion that Minmatar battleships should not fight in anything short of a instapop gank is either remarkably stupid or a attempt at trolling.
