Skill Point/Game Time Refund on Major Game Mechanics Changes?
Players of EVE-Online invest large amounts of time and money designing characters. Players design these characters based on the "rules" of the game, or game mechanics. As skill points and game time are currently non-refundable, significant changes in game mechanics cause players to waste skill points and money.
Should CCP be responsible for refunding players game time or skill points after making serious changes in game mechanics?
If EVE-Online currently has 200,000 subscribers, they are pulling in 3 million dollars a month, or 36 million dollars a year net. Who should pay for CCP to work out the kinks in the game? The player or the company? As game time refunds are highly unlikely, would it hurt the game or the company to refund skill points?
(Just some thoughts. And NO I don't fly a Vagabond.)

It's funny, but I'd probably pay a few dollars to reallocate my skillpoints. :)

Although I fly minmatar t2 frig/cruiser class ships almost exclusively, beyond the 250SP in Mining 1 I wouldn't know what to reallocate.
The nerfbat swings and everybody gets hit once in a while. Just about everyone should know that I think. So no, no "refund allocations" please. The SP allocation/distribution is part of a char's character and shouldn't be messed with (except for mining 1 which has to go ), no matter how "useful" the player thinks of these SP at a specific time.
If you really need to switch to the next FOTM asap your identification with your char isn't very high anyway, so just sell it and buy a new FOTM char.

This word "net", I do not think it means what you think it means.
CCP has this thing called expenses; those are subtracted from gross revenues to find net profits.
Anyhoo...the last thing this game needs is people cashing out their toons every time there is an adjustment in game mechanics. And I fly Vagabonds and nano-Ishtars and I hate this nerf but no one needs SP refunds or god forbid reallocations so that everyone instantly becomes the new flavor of the month.

Just want to put my two cents in.
NO.
This question comes under the same argument as the following.
-I trained up mining V and I want to go into pvp now, let me re-alocate. -I am an old character, can't I have all the better attributes of new players?
Nerfs happen all the time, some people get hit, others benefit. Over all I really don't think it would be fair.
Im not trying to offend anyone, I just have a very strong opinion on this matter.

No worries. I just want to put a few more SP in learning from some useless skills I trained early on. Also, I'd take every SP that I had and stuff into learning for every new character I started... would make things so much easier.

No.
The only reason people would want to reallocate their SP is if they either have Eve ADHD or constantly try to fly FOTM setups.
If people actually liked what they flew for reasons other than it being the latest pwnmobile, they would have no reason to reallocate.

Gosh... I wonder where those "ppl" come from..
No. Learn to vary your gameplay and your setups and you will never get hit hard by a patch/nerf. There are also very very few skills that only improves ONE type of gameplay and the navigation ones are not that case.
CCP said 6 months ago that they would nerf nanos... If you still "wasted" those 5 mill sp on that, it's your problem.
PS - Beware that CCP has told everyone that they will nerf carriers and motherships too. So I wouldn't spend too much time being specialized in whose either ;)

"Varied game play" comments from the player who spends ALL his time popping noobs and unscouted mission runners in low sec?. Your style can never be effected by any nerf cos it relies on others stupidity and lack of experience.

I'm not the one having a hard time denying the fact that nanos are being nerfed and I'm not the one asking for skilling time back. Don't project your issues on other ppl.
Still... why you using an alt to post on forums? Aren't there rules against that?

Oh don't get me wrong... I love smacking. That is one of many reasons why I chose to be a pirate. But one thing is smacking some random guy in local and another thing is to totally off topic troll a guy's post on the forums.
If I think someone has a bad idea, it is completely within my rights to tell that guy that I think his idea is bad, as long as I tell him why and the reason is within the thread's topic. You on the other hand have only gone after trolling my posts, not even bothering to keep yourself to the topic and even making up ridiculous assumptions about my knowledge of this game to try to get me mad and lower myself to you level. That is just sad.

The topic as far as im concerned is your posts, your lack of knowledge about pvp and your attitude to those who do know. The reasons why you post such naive and clueless things about stuff that really does not concern you. Personally i think its pvper envy of the guys in 0.0 and a wish to be recognized for your kills in low sec (sori bud low sec pvp is for noobs to kill noobs).
So with that in mind i was perfectly on topic as far as im concerned.

Personal oppinion explaining why the idea is bad.

Background information on the topic reinforcing the reason why the idea is bad.

Piece of advice about future skill planning.
Example of a meaningless forum post:

Sanctimonious preaching from somebody who has never varied his style of pvp ever (due to the fact low sec pvp is mostly just killing noobs).
