I have seen people mention this in passing but have not seen an explanation of theory and practical application. I am not in a position to overheat modules currently but would like to know how this works before i finish my thermodynamics course :)

1) put offline modules inbetween the ones you are going to over heat 2) overheat 3) ?? 4) profit -- BIG Lottery, BIG Deal, InEve

So that covers the practical applications side of the discussion, any theory to follow?

its as simple as that really, it allows longer overheating, which for weapons can only be a good thing.
i want ccp to do a lot more with over heating, hope they do that with T3, |

The only official information about this is from the last fanfest i think. Worth noticing is that some T2 modules takes 5 times more damage of overheating than t1.

Does the offline module dissipate heat faster than an empty slot ? |

Yes, or there wouldn't be any point doing it. |

I dont think that's true. According to the EFT heatsim (and I think that's the best we've got atm ) there's no difference in fitting an offlined module or just keeping a slot empty.
But ofc it makes sense to pack an offlined remote armor rep or a salvager over, well, duh, nothing. Also you have the added chance of damaging your offline mod instead of a mod you will want to actually use, I think. But the heatdissipation is the same. |

You can't putt an offlined module in EFT. Or I missed something. |

ah u missed something cause u can click to the left of the mod for it to be on or off--note the green checkmarks for on-line mods. |

It's just desactivated. Not offlined. :p |
