This is an abstract from the deep forum deadspace ;-) This is usefull so, plz, stick it on the main Mac section of the forum:
Instructions on how to run multiple EVE clients on Macintosh
Make a duplicate of the EVE Online.app package.
Right click on the duplicate icon, and select Show Package Contents Navigate to Contents Edit the Info.plist file, and look for the following key: PrefsFolderName, and change the value to something different such as "EVE Online 2"
Eg:
<key>PrefsFolderName</key> <string>EVE Online 1</string>
(In this case, you need to specify to change the <STRING> value, under the <KEY> value, if you change the <KEY> value, nothing happens, no secondary settings folder is created.)
Save the Info.plist Run each version to the login screen, and exit.
Edit the /Users//Library/Preferences/Eve Online Preferences/config file Search for [sdldrv] then look a couple lines below for the fullscreen entry which looks like: "Desktop" = "N" Change the N to Y in the FullScreen setting Repeat steps 7, 8, 9 for Eve Online 2 Preferences. After you have completed the previous steps, you can run both versions concurrently. They will also by default launch in a Window.
Then....
Epty Cache Folder, on a NEWLY installed and configured clients, follwing these instructions: 1. Open Finder 2. Go to Home 3. Open Library 4. Open Preferences 5. Open EVE Online Preferences (Remember, you will have a Secondary folder for the second client, so do exactly he same thing to it) 6. Open p_drive 7. Open Local settings 8. Open Application Data 9. Open CCP 10. Open EVE 11. Move all the files and folders to Trash. (File called History.txt, Folders called: "c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility", "Cache" and "settings" 12. Restart your client
Now, restart your Mac - I know it is hilarious, but do it.
Once you start the clients do this: Make sure that the ALL sound options are disabled, and that Transparency on the graphics settings is set to 255/its maximum.
OK. All of the above helped me. Until next time. Also, EVE loses stability on me every few weeks and I actually have to go empty the cache folder and restart my Mac again. And if that does not fix it, well I reinstall the client.
There are so many bugs in the client, too bad we do not have any CCP authorized monitoring programs to run to determine what cause intermittent, but UNAVOIDABLE crash in the client every few weeks.

Same here. After reinstalling the Client when Empyrean Age came out, everything was well for some time. Ok performance, no crashes.
Now, whenever I run multiple clients and try to do a simple "log off" or "quit game" from just one of them, they start to crash and even make my iMac (OS 10.5.4, 2,4GHz, 4gig RAM) crash to a certain degree. So after playing with 2 clients I must restart the Mac. Sometimes it's not even possible to just restart and I must open a shell and kick Cider manually, which is very annoying.
I will go try to do the steps which you mentioned last, taking care of the cache folder... I didn't care for it so far.
I can only hope the game behaviour will be better in the future. It's not very comfortable if you have to kick cider and then to restart your Mac, besides the fact that it's not even worth it to try and let other programs run besides EVE at the moment. [GHUC] Home: http://crescentmoon.de/eve |

I was thinking about the offer from CCP re: The Power of Two.
Your posts have clarified that running two clients on a single machine is problematic. Thanks for pointing this out.
It also bears noting that in its advertisements, CCP does not forthrightly note that running multiple clients on a single machine is not officially supported. To my mind, this constitutes deceptive advertising.

I have two things I wanted to talk about with regards to this.
The first is, I successfully run three clients across two screens on a Mac Pro with little/no issues other than occasional stability that a reboot clears. We're talking about multiple-hour session, sometimes as much as eight or ten hours when a real long mining session goes on.
However, the annoying thing is this:
Whenver there is an update, it goes out of the way to scramble these changes. For example I rename my EvE package to 'Eve Client 1' and 'Eve Client 2' etc. If you patch, it renames it to EvE Client again.
not a big deal, as I patch each client however I need to be aware of that or when you launch the renamed second client it'll patch it to the first client file and blow up rather spectacularly.
Then, it trashes the changes to where the preferences are on the info.plist file that points to the new preferences subdirectory for the particular client.
Again, fixable once you discover what happened.
Then it also trashes the config file in that preferences directory when you open it. In my case that means force it back into full window mode instead of desktop mode.
Could it be possible that maybe it NOT DO THIS? It's pretty annoying especially with the frequency of patches that I have to do a re-config dance every time.
In my experience on the windows client, this doesn't happen..

Want to automate the steps (mentioned above) to duplicate your EVE Online client software so you can play multiple accounts simultaneously? Want an easy way to duplicate the client software so you can log into Singularity?
These are some of the issues I wanted to address when I wrote a shell script called multiacct. To make use of the software, you need to get to a UNIX shell on your Mac. Mac comes with a program called "Terminal", but I personally prefer iterm (http://iterm.sourceforge.net/download.shtml).
First Time Checkout
First, from your shell prompt, you'll need to install (subversion checkout) the code:
- svn checkout http://eomultiacct.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/eomultiacct/trunk eomultiacct
Run the Script
After that, you can run it:
which will show give you a help screen.
Read the Docs
You can also read the docs:
- view eomultiacct/README.txt
Get the latest code
When you did the initial checkout, you created a subversion workspace. From that point on, its really easy to get the lasest version by updating the workspace:
Example
Make an instance for each of your favorite characters and place icons for each on the dock:
- sh eomultiacct/multiacct copy -cd "Chevalier d'Eon" Gorgidas "Serena Joy"
I hope you find this script helpful. If you run into bugs, please submit them to sourceforge:
Thanks, Chevalier d'Eon

I did EXACTLY as TribeMaster wrote but I can only log into my multiple accounts on one client. The second client I launch says that my user name or password are incorrect.
They, in fact, correct. I can log into each of my 3 accounts - at a time - successfully.
What gives?
