hi all I've come to the point where my operations are taking small part of my isk. Although i'm working with larger and larger quantities, i'm noticing that certain amount of isk is never touched. At this moment it's around 800 mil. and it's rising slowly. Now, What shoudl i do next? Expand trading? More bigger orders? Or get into larger production? I never did really much of the production. Maybe try doign Battleships? Or start exploring capital production (i could maybe get access to capital parts BPCs)... All ideas are welcome! ty

I only know about trading, I've never done production. But trading can scale up well. I started with less than a bill of working capital, then as my NAV increased I tweaked the items I traded and my trading style to be able to make a good return on several bills of working capital. Now I'm getting good returns on a bit less than 10 bill. Others on this forum seem to be able to make returns on hundreds of billions. As a trader you have have to keep re-inventing yourself. Evolving to make use of more capital is hard, but possible and worthwhile. Keep looking for new higher value, higher volume items. Use a more passive trading style that makes use of the extra capital without tying you to Eve 23 / 7.

hey sumara...i am starting to get into exactly the same position. I have around 1.5B in assets. I typically will only transport around 1/2 of that. I do one major trade haul every 4-6 days. I currently make around 50+ mill per haul (or per week). Things is i dare not transport more in value. I could make more hauls but i am pretty lazy. I could just be happy making 70 mil a week with little more than a couple of hours of investment in time.
I agree with the first answer though; which is to reinvent or as i see it go back through your preffered trade items and drop anything with low "overall isk return" even if the percentage return is high. Then feed in some newer higher value (in the >10mil per item) trade items.
I have also though to invest around 500mil in an IPO or just drop it into a bank.
Other than that i have another character and may use the money to start in another area like pirating...this may be a mistake ;o)

Edited by: Sumara Oooh on 19/08/2008 08:35:14 well, to clarify. Trading is not really my primaryisk maker. Well, not classic reselling. I buy stuff from market, make rigs and sell them. But i have quite the network by now, spanning 3 regions and a couple of trade hubs. Thinking about my problem,it sems to be hauling. In about 2 weeks ill be able to fly freighters, maybe i'll fare better than. But still, i agree. I need to make myself sit, open up market window and find myself some more work. Especially since i work in 3 regions, i SHOULD be able to find something worth reselling. the thing is, i'm really a trading noob. Never started with reselling my loot from lvl1 missions, so trading itself is still pretty gray area. I use some advanced tricks, but still, it doesn't feel so good. simply, lack of experience. In the mean time i'll continue with my production, at the same time expanding my repertoire. Oh, and if you want to talk about pirating, convo me

You should be able to find ways to scale up your trading into the 30-50 billion range. After that it becomes much much tougher with pure trading. It's definitely possible, just takes more effort and some creative ideas. |

you should look at ways to tweak your current system so it uses more capital (maybe issue buy orders, tying up those 800mil and letting you get more items for your isk?). I just tweaked mine, increasing the capital invested 10-fold and my profits 6-fold. I'm still tweaking my system, I expect to have my profits up to the 10-fold mark pretty soon. Just make sure you can sustain that effort.
You could also double up and start the same operation, just focused on a different region, tying up more isk and potentially giving you more profits. |

WOW I did just that. First i did what i normally do, buit scaled it up. 400mil in buy orders made me shiver, biggest thing i did. got all filled, and i'm just finishing selling last of that batch. Once i saw it can be done, i've set up buy orders in 3 different regions, trying to scale up even more, and to accelerate the rate i put new shit out... thanks!
all ideas stil welcome... |
