Just saw it over at mmorpg.com.
Of course, given how spectacularly AoC has fizzled since it launched, I'm taking this to mean AoC is bad rather than Eve got lots better all of a sudden :P |

I cant see why you are supprised. and I dont see why you make a post like this.
you are not even remotely interested in this else you would have never made this post. if you were interested you would have read millions of thread how AOC fails, and how they ban users from the forums if they bring up subjects they dont like, and how xfire stats were dropping like crazy 1 months after launch. how credit card were billed even after the account was closed down by the player, etc etc. |

Sounds like EVE to me.
Or do your overview windows stay where you put them?
I'm not saying AoC wasn't buggy, but EVE is too.
Dual client usage has been hamstrung by a cpu utilization bug since Trinity was released.
Let's not forget you still can't assign hotkeys without modifiers. |

Not being funny, but the word buggy had to be redefined after FC launched AoC |

Funcom has a track record of releasing unplayable titles which only become decent after everyone's forgotten about them. The new player experience is quite polished and balanced, but play for a week or two and you snag yourself on showstopper issues.
Since the devs and designers don't play the game other than at the very beginning balance issues mid and endgame are absolutely mind boggling. Never mind minor UI annoyances, the EVE equivalent would be self-destructing randomly or having .5 belt rat NPCs spawn with 50 million hit points. |

yeah i was gonna buy AoC but i never could justify the 50 dollars, plus monthly... then i started hearing how crap it is, and yeah.
Ive purchased X3:Reunion instead (game from 05?) with the 2.5 patch which is fairly recent.
They keep adding things to X3 so its still competative for a singleplayer game. Then we have the new X3 game coming out this fall. Buying that too. ^^ |

I admit it I tried AOC. At first appearences its very nice, great visuals & soundtrack however it quickly becomes a grind fest just like all the rest, only AOC failed to hold my attention for more then a couple of weeks.
It really does seem like there is no content in the game. I am much happier just playing EVE especially with all the great stuff still to come, so I am not surprised. |

Yes, you would be correct in your assessment of AoC. It's not that Eve has surpassed AoC, it is that AoC has dropped like a rock since 30 days after launch. The AoC forums were very entertaining. Heck, I found em more fun to play during the last two weeks of my sub then playing the game itself. |

I never even got the game or played a demo but I stil lurk on AoC forums because it's such a fantastic display of failure. Very entertaining! |

AoC have a very beautiful graphic. But that is allmost all it had! Sad really, seeing its a Norwegian company and I being a norwegian myself, I had a hope that this game should succeed. But after trying the game - as I try most of the online games arriving on the market - I can only repeat myself:
EVE: Noone above and noone besides it!

Wait a year and see if AoC makes Funcom fail. if not, Hellgate wins. |

Plus if you brought up your fittings screen if you have rigs fitted, the game would crash, every time. It would be impossible to get certain things required for manufacturing, and then all your industry related skills could possibly disappear, leaving you with no skills, but unable to train them again. Some guns and EW would have no sound or graphics at all.
My main issue was the boring Wow-like gameplay. I can look past bugs if it seems like they are working on fixing them. But the boring grind-fest plus the fact that half the features on the box aren't even in the game made me decide to cancel my account. It's too bad, too, because I like the Conan setting from the Robert E. Howard stories. |

AoC failed on so many fronts. Basically, it was released a year too early. Missing and broken features etc. That is the norm for new MMO's. The real disaster was the complete lack of vision and communication. No one knew where the game was going. Each patch seemed to be flailing around random areas of focus. You can't wait forever for someone like FC to get their act together. IMHO, FC will never get it together because there doesn't seem to be any cohesive leadership present. |
