3 mods i find indespensible in pvp. cap injector (no amount of passive cap regen will save you if you get neuted, which can be an expensive lesson to learn ), mwd, and damage control.
and also, find some friends to do this with rarely will other players go, "oh look he's solo, how admirable, ok i'll take him on myself the rest of you stay here" |

Edited by: Dr Jamius on 21/08/2008 03:15:44 Definitely leave anything bigger than a frigate at home if you're totally inexperienced in pvp. Especially if you're solo. You need to build situational awareness, understand what ships you can kill, and when to run. I see you've trained Caldari Frigate to level 4, so I would suggest a Kestrel. There's plenty of fun to be had with a Kessie in low sec belts. You may even get lucky and kill a cruiser. The fit below is cheap and will kill a Thorax, albeit a little slowly :D. 2km/s and faster than most cruisers. Avoid missile ships. Keep out of web range, pulse the mwd so your cap doesn't run out, kill drones first then attack the target ship.
[Kestrel, New Setup 1] Micro Auxiliary Power Core I Overdrive Injector System II
Catalyzed Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters Fleeting Warp Scrambler I Small Shield Extender II

. Alternatively go for balls deep rockets, and higher dps.
[Kestrel, New Setup 1] Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II
Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters Faint Warp Prohibitor I 'Langour' Drive Disruptor I
'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I, Caldari Navy Thorn Rocket 'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I, Caldari Navy Thorn Rocket 'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I, Caldari Navy Thorn Rocket 'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I, Caldari Navy Thorn Rocket

This will kill a rail boat without a web, orbit at 500m and he won't be able to hit you.

Grab a frig/cruiser set it up for buffer and damage and see what you can kill =]
You will lose ships, the key is to be able to afford the loss and jump right back in. There are alot of subtle tricks to staying alive and also finding your targets, something that you can only really learn with experience. You'll learn alot quicker if you join up with some more experienced players to learn from but if not there's nothing wrong with soloing it either.
Solo BS is suicide unless you really know what you're doing and have the isk to blow. Just remeber only fly what you can afford to lose, because chances are you will =P |
