im sorry but why do people still commit bulgalry in the US when its legal for the homeowner to blow your head off if you do?
I really need to understand this because no dvd player is worth the risk of death

Because it's not legal in 99% of the US. Even if you kill someone in justifiable self-defense, that can still land you manslaughter in court. |

Castle Law
I see 3 states without the castle doctrine. Most of the others go from weak Castle to stand your ground. Castle Doctrine exempts you from court cases that can be used for 'revenge' by immediate family. |

That is true, but it doesn't protect you from D.A.s running for re-election. :) |

I laughed when it said that it was derived from the UK laws. We have no rights to defend our property at all. In strictly legal terms, if we even touch the intruder, we can be done for common assault. Whether a court would actually prosecute the homeowner is a different matter but in reality, the law still states that we are not allowed to do anything. Even taking a photo of the intruder without their permission is a violation of their rights if you look at the law as it is written here
What a crock of shit the law is. If someone breaks into a persons home, they have given up any rights they ever had and deserve whatever punishment the homeowner deems necessary to inflict. If it's my house, that means leaving in a body bag. I couldn't give a damn about going to prison for it, if enough follow the same lead, they can't put everyone in prison for it. Personally, I'd be the one who scalps them as well and displays the scalp on my front door as a warning to anyone else who might have the idea that my house is a good target.
This country has too many do-gooders spouting human rights, that's why the laws her are so crap and victims are treated more like the criminals while the criminals get more rights than the victim. I'd love to see the houses of these do-gooders broken into and every item of sentimental value as well as valuables are stolen from them. Then see how they feel about being treated as if they were the criminal while the criminal just gets a slap on the wrists, an 80 pound fine and told not to do it again. Let me see their rage as they see the criminal casing the house next door the day after the court hearing.
My attitude: You have the right to remain silent and I'm going to make damn sure you exercise that right with a baseball bat.

You said it, dude. All the human rights groups are given too much attention. They seem to protect criminals as if they were cute, adorable, defenceless puppies or something |

reminds me of what my grandmother told me and my older brother he had been unsuccessfully robbed (a year of Tae Kwon do and a few minutes of fast running can come in handy): "I'll give you a hundred crowns* for every bone you break, the bastards will have it coming."
course, this was twenty years ago .. it was another climate then ;)

This is my favorite old-lady-with-a-gun-pwning story
82-year-old Miss America 1944 shoots out intruder's car tires with her .38
Quote: She had to balance on her walker as she pulled out a snub-nosed .38-caliber handgun.
