Hello, not sure if this is the right forum, but oh well. I'm pretty new to the game, and was looking into salvaging as a way to make isk. Now I know how you go up to wrecks and pull junk out, but what can you do with it afterward? I've heard that making modules or whatever is fairly profitable, but I have no idea how to do it. What skills, etc., do I need for this? Thanks much. |

You can create rigs from your salvage through manufacturing, the same way that you can make ammunition, or ships, or modules.
The short of it is go and get yourself a Blueprint Original (BPO) off the market for the sort of rig you are interested in making, gather together all the parts listed under that blueprint's manufacturing requirements, find yourself a manufacturing slot in a station, get all of your stuff (BPO, parts, etc) in the same station, and build away.
Production Efficiency is a skill that reduces the amount of waste you've got when you build things, and as a rule of thumb having it at least to level 4 is a must, and 5 if you have any intention of doing it for profit.
Hope that helps some |

Thanks a ton, I didn't realize you needed to train so much just to make a profit! Should have known. Oh well. Thanks much for the info. |

Rigs are a fairly ISK intensive thing to make. The BPOs are a little more expensive and need more research.
The next issue is that you need to invest a lot of rig parts into a rig. You can have over 55m invested into rig parts for a rig that will eventually sell for maybe 60m.
Best to sell your salvage on the market at first and get some experience in manufacturing modules. With modules you might invest 10m for the same 5m profit and they sell a lot quicker than rigs. |

Who what? Rig BPOs are very cheap in the scheme of things, and don't need much research to be perfect at all. |

I worded that badly. That'll teach me to post when annoyed.
What I meant was that rig BPOs require perfect research of around 20ME (between 15-25 for most rig BPOs iirc) to be profitable, because even one salvage part can make a big difference in build cost. e.g. an extra Alloyed Trit Bar will put you out almost half a mil ISK.
A simple module BPO researched to ME 10 is generally profitable with <1% waste. Who cares if you waste a few low-end minerals per module? Hence rig BPOs need a little more research than normal.

ME20 on a rig is still less than 3 days, many ship BPOs need a couple of months of ME before they're worth using.
But yes, they are expensive compared to other T1 modules to make, they're also though pretty much standard as T1, while most modules these days are used mostly in T2 form. |
