Hello peoples,
I was just wondering if someone could explain to me how to predict the length of time it will take for a frequency crystal to break.
If this was already answered else where (most likely) could you please direct me to where I can read about them?

Faction - way more but will still break  |

Whilst mining, i'd say T2 crystals last for about 5 hours worth of constant mining. |

No.
Faction has a 100% chance to do .00025 damage. This gives 4000 shots.
T2 has a 10% chance to do .01 damage, giving an average of 1000. If you're really unlucky you could lose a T2 crystal in as few as 100 shots, but the chances of this are literally astronomical.
Crystals are destroyed when damage reaches 1. |

T2 last about 1000 shots: 10% chance of taking 1% damage.
Faction last 4000 shots: 100% chance of taking 0.025% damage. |

the strange thing is, none of u are amarr pilots(i am on main) t2 crystals have exactly 1000 shots,they actually take 0.001 dmg a shot, not the 0.01 they say in the discript. no less and no more..factions have alot but theres no way to count it unless ur really bored lol

More importantly as you use them hover your mouse cursor over the gun with the crystal fit. See the little number? If that gets to 1 it's gone.

Race of a character does not indicate the race of the ships they fly.
I use faction crystals all the time, and the rate of damage seems to match the pattern I stated.
I just went and fired a few test shots just to make sure: 0.00025 damage per shot.
You can check the exact damage status of a crystal by opening the Show Info window for it from the fitting screen: it doesn't seem to display the damage status if you Show Info while it is in your cargo hold or hanger. |

Because race of character means so much in this game. You got me there. (Hint: this is sarcasm. I may be Caldari, but I fly a Nightmare and a Paladin.)
No, T2 crystals do not have exactly. They have about. Given a massive number of simulations you'll eventually come out with 1000, but that's not really the point. Myself and other posters have "counted" how many shots faction have as well. Finally, you're wrong about T2. It's a .01 damage, 10% of the time. It's effectively .001 damage every time, if that's what you're getting at. It's hard to tell when you drop so many letters from your sentences. |

for some reason i always notice that the more heat sinks i have the less shots the crystals have
even though i fire faster i think damage mods facter into it not sure. |

T2 Crystals are about 1000 shots and Faction exactly 4000. (100% damage chance, not 10)
As for the race of pilots, cross-training is worth the effort, it never hurts to be able to fly more types of ship. |
