Edited by: Arno Severinsen on 21/08/2008 11:24:32 Edited by: Arno Severinsen on 21/08/2008 11:24:14 Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this; I didn't see a "bug reports" category anywhere.
I've noticed for some time that pinned doesn't really mean pinned. Heck, even pinned and locked isn't really serious about it. My pinned, locked windows still jump around the screen at whim.
I realized yesterday what the problem is. There is a bug in the window snap logic such that window snap overrides even a locked, pinned window. The snap logic needs to be revised. Sure, it's fine to snap an unpinned window to a pinned one. But a pinned window, especially a LOCKED pinned window, should NEVER be snapped to an unpinned window. If I have a window - say, my overview, or my local - that's locked and pinned in a specific place at a specific size, it's because I WANT IT TO STAY THERE NO MATTER WHAT. It shouldn't resize and jump across the screen just because, say, I opened my cargo hold to do a tactical reload. |

ROFL, I hope we don't have to submit a bug report on this or it is true that the devs don't play the game. It has been this way for 7 months now? Ever since the new graphics came out the UI has been messed up.

this has been a problem since the patch that brought along the fleet window revision
CCP's standard response since then has been 'clear your cache' which, of course, does nothing
I think their tactic is to provide a non-working solution and hope that the player will eventually just learn to deal with it

I had this problem too, but somehow I accidentally fixed it, by making sure no windows are within one inch of the bottom of the screen (weird, but it fixed it for me) ---

Sadly I have recently started to experience this problem.
Although it did not occur until I completely removed and reinstalled the Premium client...

Yeah, afaik this bug should/is known but I have no idea what they're doing about it. Seems that it's some auto-anti-stacking feature that if one window overlaps another so it's not accessible, that the system auto-moves the window (even if it's pinned and/or locked) so that it can be accessed to be in the foreground.
IMHO, as many others have stated, this should never apply to a pinned window (locked or not - pinned means it stays in place. You can move other windows or close windows to access it). Pinning windows has existed for many, many, many years in Linux desktop environments (and previous... I think it may have been in Sun's operating systems too) and on MacOS as well. No *clue* where the UI people at CCP got it in their heads that they should make pinned windows act any differently (you figure that a decade of GUIs would eventually figure it out before you guys - no? :P)
