I like many other things about EvE too, though.

I wish mining was more exciting, sometimes, but other times there is serene relaxation to be had just sitting back and letting the lasers hum, kicking out the mining drones, and just soaking up rocks (and beer).

Don't you guys have crazy stressful jobs you need to relax to recover from too? Mining in EvE is just about perfect for that very thing.

As far as Ice mining goes, it's terrible, just seed the fuel on the market from NPC vendors, and therefore remove another aspect of the game for other people who may enjoy it and just do mission ice, which I might like
