Why do I get the feeling that no matter how I plan my route using that map I'll end up at a goon gate camp?

I've said it before, and I will say it again, there is no malicious code in EVE-Map. It's an open source project. You can browse the code here: http://code.google.com/p/evemap/source/browse/#svn/trunk If there were any malicious code someone would have found it, pointed it out to CCP, and this account wouldn't be posting right now. If you still don't believe me, download Visual C# Express Edition from Microsoft, compile the code yourself, and run that. There's a good likelihood you use or have used EVE-Mon. That program was also developed by a goon for quite some time, until he up and disappeared and another goon and myself took over and then we both disappeared and random pubbies seem to be in charge of it now.
That said, please stop with this OMG STEALS MY CHARACTERS STUFF nonsense. Quite frankly its insulting and not at all funny. I've spent a great deal of time working on this program to give it away for free. All I have asked is that if you like the program, consider throwing some isk my way. If you don't trust me, don't post in this thread and don't use the program. It's as simple as that.

Thank you for your work. I appreciate it, and I know of quite a few others who do as well. Please do not let a few people discourage you from continuing to improve upon what you've already done! |

How hard would it be to put some kind of bookmark feature into this program? I know you have waypoints in it now, but being able to bookmark specific systems and seeing them on an interactive map could be a great help in some instances.

How about saving settings, like view options/etc on exit? it seems to wipe them for me anyhow.
Also the ability to add 'comments' or 'notes' on moons/systems would be very nice when tracking POS locations/good moons etc.

They can call it EVEMapFittingMon.
ALRIGHT!
EVE Map is quite possibly the best program I have ever used. Something to consider is to allow us to click the moons and add what sort of material they have when we moon scan them so we can log the data in the map. Additionally, we should be able to pull up a "Moon scan report" after inputting the data for quick access.
I just see that whole properties and values page at the bottom of the main column just going to waste :( Get this implemented! :3

Isn't that Ironic coming from a goon?
And why don't you submit the code to CCP to go over? That would remove all doubt, and IF what say is true then you can say "CCP VERIFIED". Then I would see no problem in me downloading the tool, but without CCP saying this is a free-from-haxor 3rd party tool I am not going near it.

Why don't you just not use this program and stop crying about it coming from a goon. It's the same bias that we use against bob for propaganda, but thats a different matter.
CCP is not going to reconise programs as 'CCP Verified' or whatever bull**** name you want to put on it, in the end developers will need to do updates to their programs and if CCP would be needed everytime to 'validate' it it would cause huge delays no doubt.
In fair respect, if you believe this program steals your credentials or whatever, why don't you test it and petition it?

For what its worth I verified yesterday that the code base contains no unnecessary talk back to the Web nor did I see any malicious code. (I went through every code file and reviewed it. I have 5 years of professional dotNet expereince.)
Over all I like the code style. Though it shocked me to see 'goto' being used extensively in one spot. And I hate 'var'. In my opinion that is just laziness and makes it harder to read if you ever have to open the code in notepad.

I'm just in love with this program. I wish I could understand how it works with jumpbridges and so on. Starbases Import/Export don't work. :( I wanted to add some bridges, but could not set bridges location, i.e. planet-moon. What am I doing wrong?

Firstly, GREAT program, very nicely done.
Secondly, the latest version (NG) on Google seems to have gone backwards in functionality and appearance over 2.2. Does NG stand for "Non Goon" version?
Lastly, development has gone a bit quiet, is it still going on?
Again, great tool, very useful....

Edited by: Lhyda Souljacker on 15/05/2009 02:06:13 An update of sorts:
We're still working on it. One of my developers quit. Another got a job. Yet another has a baby. I, too, got a job. And the other developer kind of disappeared but shows up occasionally and dumps something huge into the code base.
I've stalled out since I don't want to touch the map anymore because I'm waiting on a developer to finish up the 3D Map (3d as in using directx but not 3d as in OMG THE MAP IS 3D NOW! It'll still be 2D) we're going to switch to. I also hate .net winforms programming which is pretty much all that's left. I also ripped out the NG map in a fit of rage and replaced it with the map from 2.2. Consequently the map is now around 3.75x slower than NG's map was.
For those requesting moon level data. Sorry that just isn't feasible. The data file would grow to be over 30mb in size and wouldn't play well with .net's binary serialization. I've looked at swapping out to something like protocol buffers but the effort involved is just too great for the returns we'd get.
I also do not know when the next release will be. I've been tempted to release the current code but I'm hesitant to after the RC for NG 1.0 was so badly received on goonfleet's forums.
Edit: 2.2 is dead btw. I don't support it, care about it, or acknowledge it's existence anymore. NG is the only version. The code base isn't convoluted and horrible like 2.2's was. And yes NG is a step backwards. It's a complete start over from 2.2.

Good news on the update, thanks
One question: How do you enable the dark background in NG? Its little easier on the eyes as white is a little

How can one manually add a starbase? I like to use the map to know what moons pos's are at, in a previous version that could be done. I remember being able to right click on a system, then being able to add a pos at a moon. When adding a jumpbridge, I have no option in this new version, to select at which moon (starbase) the cyno is at.

Looks very useful, nice tool.
Unfortunately I get an error whenever the program calculates a route using a (manually added) Jumpbridge:

Any idea on that?
