Edited by: Pteranodon on 22/08/2008 15:36:55 I've been in the game a little over a year.
The first time I ventured into 0.0 space was with my corp. I was guided to the POS & gazed in wonder at this gleaming outpost stuck in the middle of somewhere. I saw this big ship-It was a Dread but I asked the question-is that a Titan?- the whole of local exploded into laughter & endless jokes about noobs. This was my defining moment in Eve- quickly learning that you do it better when you say nothing at all.
What is your most embarrassing moment in Eve?

Coordinating a huge fleet. Getting them all to one location. Finding some miners to can-flip.
Discovering that when someone attacks you, you're whole fleet doesn't get kill rights.

Happened something like this:
(both of us new to EVE) Friend: hey, let's grab a couple of frigates and go kill someone for the hell of it Me: I dunno... our corp is kinda anti-pirate Friend: pfft, they'll never know, and just one kill... Me: Meh, ok I guess. *one dead Iteron later* Me: good haul there. Now we just don't tell anyone.
*later in corp chat* CEO: umm. Us: ??? CEO: *posts killmail of dead Iteron* Us: ... (a mixture of "how did he get that?" and "uh oh..."

I used to think that "macro mining" referred to the amount of stuff being mined (macro = large), not realizing it referred to macro programs. On several occasions after I had gotten my first mining barge I responded to the question of "hey Dirk what you up to?" with "nm. just macro mining."

Let's see, embarrassing moments you say?
Losing a Crow to a Kestrel - I got too kill-horny, and attacked a rocket-fit Kessie that had a web at point-blank range on a station with my mid-range Crow . Surprise buttsex ensued.
Evading an enemy fleet that outnumbered us like 2 or 3:1 quite well, looking at the map and saying to myself "looks like that system has three exits, let's keep going". Turns out, because I use the flattened in-game map, it just looks like it had many exits, it was actually a dead-end system... oops...

I was flying a mission witg two in-game friends. Me and one other in a Drake, and the last flying healer. We were up against some pretty tough opposition, which is why I had brought friends.
So we activate the acceleration gate, one by one (I go in and gives mark, mate 1 counts to 15 and goes in and gives mark, mate 2 counts to 15 and goes in) all very pretty. Then the healer ship targets me, I panic, and blast his Osprey apart. the first salvo did rather a lot of damage, which kinda surprised me because I thought he was an enemy and was supposed to be tougher (big cruiser-sized cross, you know), and then the second salvo is away, and I realize my mistake, just before his Osprey dies.
Fortunately, (A) we were all able to laugh loudly at it, (B) I offered to buy him a new Osprey, (C) we ended up all going shopping for a new ship and fittings for him at my expense and (D) once he had a new Osprey, we went back to the mission and kicked total butt.
Second-most embarassing must have been when I made a typo while modifying a Buy Order, and ended up losing approximately 120M ISK. That wasn't fun, losing something like 5% of my personal fortune due to a stupid mistake (the decimal point was in the wrong place, e.g. buying for 140.7 instead of 14.07).

Since you're new to this game I seriously doubt you coordinated a 'huge fleet'.
