He stopped playing Eve properly as he got bored about 10 months ago. He offered me the isk also, but it would ruin my whole experience.
And why is that? You are a PvP'er right? Then you can rebuy ships as much as you want without doing the tedious isk making :) ----------------- Destiny is not a matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It's not a thing to be waited for - it is a thing to be achieved. |

The joy of PvP comes from risking your hard-earned assets in a contest of skill with other players. The feeling of loss and the elation of victory is proportionate to how much you have on the line combined with the difficulty of the challenges you face.
If the ships are just given to you or your enemy is too weak then the enjoyment of the experience is muted.
To illustrate this point, I shall explain that I joined one of my PvP characters to the Amarrian side of Factional Warfare about 2 days after it started.
I hoped that it would make a refreshing change to low-sec piracy and 0.0 warfare where there can be a disturbing lack of targets and good fights can be few and far between.
But I was also worried, when I did this, given that FW was suggested to be PvP-lite where all of the nubs would come out in their poorly fitted Caracals and either suicide themselves through inexperience of stab up and run due to cowardice.
Fortunately it turned out to be the best thing that has happened to EVE PvP in the long duration of my time playing. Yes there are flocks of nubs, yes there is nano***gotry, stabbery, cowards that run and some blobbing... but there are so many excellent quality fights to be had night after night that all the rest doesn't matter.
However, it is quite a challenge keeping up with the losses. But that is part of what brings the joy. Every time I undock for PvP I know that there is a measurable amount of my time and effort on the line, every time I lose a ship I feel that loss, every time a ship survives a battle I feel the joy and relief, every time I destroy an enemy ship I hope that he feels that loss as much as I feel the victory.
According to the Amarr Militia killboard I've killed 4800m isk worth of ships for 650m worth of losses since FW began. Sadly the killboard seriously underavlues faction/deadspace items so the kill value is very low compared to reality. I've mostly been fighting Outbreak (until they left recently) so the amount of faction bling on the field has been extremely high. The number of deadspace MWDs alone that I have looted has been truely impressive. I don't take that kind of kit onto the battlefield myself so my losses are roughly accurate, maybe a little high due to iffy valuations on T2 mods. But even if you take these figures it's a 7.3:1 win/loss ratio, with reality being well over 10:1.
Now consider the enjoyment I've had from spending that 650m over the last couple of months. It's been the most fun I've had in EVE ever. If someone had just handed that 650m worth of kit to me and told me to go lose it, I know for a fact I would not have enjoyed it half as much.
Now consider that 4800m in kills. If I believed that isk had come easily to my opponents and those losses had not been felt by them, it would have seriously reduced the joy of victory. I know that Outbreak aren't poor and they probably have as much difficulty raising that isk as I did raising mine. But it's definately the risk of isk that makes PvP the joy that it is and that's exactly why EVE PvP is so much better than just about any other PvP game.

All these supposed trillion isk wallets for what?! To be an irrelevant carebear in empire? Start a war machine, make alliances fall.
98% bullshit, most of the rest wasted.

Have you looked at the ROI on that stuff? You don't build up trillions of isk by ignoring that sort of thing. And that's a lot of RL time consumed. Who's got the time?

If you bought up all the zydrine before CCP messed with drone regions, the ROI could be quite high...that will quickly get you from 200bil to 300bil or whatever.

To summerise; isk is too easy to make in this game and will ruin it for you.
riiight, nobody in their right mind would turn down that kind of isk, eve if it were to park it on a mule. -iskopoly |

I keep growing my wallet so my profit grows with it and when the time comes, I want to hire corps or even alliances to fight as I want to without losing too much % of my wallet.
Right now, I am not rich enough imho to make a substantial noticable change, so keep on growing. ----------------- Destiny is not a matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It's not a thing to be waited for - it is a thing to be achieved. |
