Hey guys, just thought I'd drop a fan fic I wrote about eve when Empyrean age was released. I did however write it as Empyrean Age was relased so excuse the delay please!
---------------------------------------------
The ghastly visage of a corpse, long parted from it's soul rolled into view. Mutilated in ways unimaginable to the human mind, its very flesh was ripped from its skeletal figure and strewn forth into the vacuum of space. Preserved in deaths icy embrace for all to see, a reminder to the horrors of war.
Silence gripped the bridge, its silvery consoles idling as every body present gazed forwards into the oncoming graveyard. Tiny shards of debris rattled across forward observation, the mighty bow crashing forward leaving a trembling wake behind it. Bodies drifted past amongst numerous ruins of warships, twisted metal and ruined armour being all that remains. The occasional spark arced through the battered hulks, causing the hearts of every man in the room to lunge into their throat and all could do naught but stare forward. Into the oblivion.
Its hard to imagine what could bring this. What could bring such suffering into existence? what could release these tombs into the world? What kind of hate for another causes the lust for destruction to become so strong? What beasts of glass and metal bring this fury forth? As the star came into view light flashed across the starboard wing of the small cruiser, illuminating its presence in the tumbling abyss. A minute speck in the cloud of dust and blood. Pain and sorrow. Its integrity and wholeness a contrast against the dark presence around it. Pushing through the mist of battle, its engines emitting plumes of blue hot fire, as the shields lit up against the gray gunmetal armour. Shimmering against the worsening torrent of debris.
A voice filled the room, old and wise with experience, its presence calming yet bewitching but stern and secure. "Steady as she goes navigation" he spoke slowly with purpose, his voice coarse and firm "Engineering, divert power from auxiliary systems to the forward shield emitters. Empty cells one through seven into the hardeners and over loaders. Were in for a rough ride gentlemen." Electricity arced from the nose-like bow of the ship forward, striking the wavering shields. Instantly turning from dim grey to a glaring white barrier of energy. Bits and pieces of debris vapourised on impact whilst the larger segments rolled off the barrier, albeit singed.
Fire and fragments spewed forth from one of the twisted behemoths, writhing like a great animal struck down and left to die. Spilling its innards out, clouds of shining dust hemorrhaged from deck upon deck. Standing tall and mounted with enough weaponry for a small fleet, the beast was more of a floating installation rather than a vessel. Windows were cracked and shattered, cabin lights flickered as the giant finally came to rest. Its legacy was over, forever to remain a testament to the engines of war. The tiny cruiser powered on. A beacon of light in the darkness consuming this realm. A glimmer of hope in a land of hellfire.
Consoles breathed life once again, active to the tap tap of anxious men. Each one belonging to their own destiny, each one working as clockwork in the ships intricate machine. Slowly, one such man stepped forwards towards the stony faced captain. Again a voice filled the confines of the bridge, although this one was different. It was uncertain, it teemed with fear and haste. "Ssir. Sir." the mans voice quivered with terror "The... 'debris' cloud is interfering with our sensors, we are unable to contact anyone as we are. We are also detecting what would appear to be many... many distress beacons sir." Again the silence returned, briefly but long enough. Slight shuddering consumed the ship, as it forced its way through the graves of this forsaken place. Heads looked up from their consoles, glimpsing towards the man seated in the captains chair. --------------------------- Caldari to the end.

Once again the old voice graced the room, though this time it was not nearly as kind. "Do you know how many men serve aboard a Naglfar class dreadnought lieutenant? Do you know how many souls reside aboard a fully operational capital ship?" "Nnno. No Sir." stuttered the voice "Tens of thousands. How many men serve aboard a cruiser? How many men serve aboard my ship?" "Around 70. Sssir." "Do you think it would be anything other than false hope to respond to those calls? Anything other than futile to answer those pleas? I don't like it, but we cannot respond nor venture near to those tombs." The captain stood up slowly, laboring to align himself upright whilst turning to face the lieutenant. "Their fate is sealed. And so is ours. We must venture onwards, lest we wish to attend to the same end."
